For my AU counterparts, when does the voluntary separation offer end? Thanks in advance.

40 to 45% of the Geoscientist staff alone took VRP. Paradoxically a lot of the duds remained

They aren’t obligated to accept them all but It does get very messy legally if you try to pick and choose whose applications you accept, you could easily inadvertently breach anti-discrimination laws or other employment law. Company indicated up front that it would in all likelihood accept almost all applications, which appears to be what has happened, as far as we know the 350 have been accepted. Headcount in Australia is supposedly about 1500, so nearly 25% of the affiliate are going

In theory, managers could choose to reject an employee's application for the program, but in practice it's pretty much a one way street.

Its a huge decision with implications for the employee's family and retirement. You don't give the employee an option just to reject it because it was oversubscribed.

Most of those that left were fairly senior (55+) but common consensus is that it's a huge brain drain.

The 350 represent around 20% from what I've heard

If they received more interest than expected... are they obligated to accept them all? Or can they pick and choose?

It has ended. Employees given until second-last week of Sep to decide whether to opt in or not. Some folks have already left in the first week of Oct with most leaving through the rest of Oct.
