Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Cuban's comments on IBM back in 2014 (probably already on this site)

Mark Cuban basically says what everybody outside of IBM already knows. And, this is from 6 years ago.

Better yet, look at the current group of IBM Fellows and Distinguished Engineers. Maybe 1-2 Fellows recognized externally anymore and nobody knows anything about our DEs. The lack of eminence at those levels is astounding. We have some Band 8-9s with more eminence, more speaking engagements, and more publications than any DE or Fellow.

It is true, there are not many true technical visionaries left. Take a look at the list of IBM Fellows, and try to find out how many of them have left (not retired, left for other jobs). Do the same exercise for Distinguish Engineers.

Mark Cuban does a great job of summarizing what happened to IBM in 50 seconds. According to Mark in 2016, IBM was a financial engineering project and was no longer a tech company. Shame on the IBM Executive team starting in the early 2000's for sacrificing the future of the company for short term earning. Shame on the IBM Board of Directors for not installing a visionary tech leader as CEO and senior Executives to keep IBM being as a powerful technology company. Unfortunately, it is may be too late to remake IBM and create a market leader in anything significant as they are so far behind in the cloud game.
