Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Has anyone requested their Employee File before?

If so, what’s in it? Would it have your historical 3x3 standing?

I requested to see my personnel file over 10 years ago. I made a simple request to HR and they allowed me time to come to their offices to view the contents of the folder. I’m not sure what HR has a policy for doing that now, but when I requested it, I got no pushback. The only file I suppose they allow you access to is the paper based file. Here you may only find older files, letters, reports, etc. I didn’t find anything malicious or damaging in my personnel folder. As a matter of fact, there were a couple of complimentary letters of my work performance. I could not leave their office with any of the contents, but HR allowed me to make copies of whatever I wanted to keep. I would guess that HR now stores other kinds of data on you, but electronically, not paper based. It’s possible you may not have access to these electronic files.

If you do request it - never ever leave a pen or half-pad of sticky notes in your pocket.
When leaving the site.

You can request it, but you’ll never get it. They just don’t share it. If you read something in there that you disagreed with, and you learned it prevented you from some type of merit increase it and so you sued.

It is just to much liability for them.
