Cisco – Cast system in Silicon Valley & Layoffs

Are Cisco employees with Dalits background affected in this LRs?

I just saw some old articles on Google… Indian immigrants from Dalit backgrounds are rising up against caste discrimination at their workplaces in the United States.

I never imagined Cisco is getting so bad …. Looks like toxic place for poor employees ...

Sadly, this has become mostly a Cisco Management problem. Cisco HR ALWAYS protects their Managers, and thus Cisco HR protects a caste society. We all agree this is discrimination, right?

Do not be pretending this sh– don't happen. And this happens in other tech companies as well. It just so happens that Cisco has probably one of the highest number of Indian employees.

I feel that Cisco's management should speak OUT on this issue and STOP doing it.

I read this article to learn. I'm shocked and saddened.

"Dalit, which means “oppressed,” is a self-chosen identity for close to 25 percent of India’s population, and it refers to former “untouchables,” the people who suffer the greatest violence, discrimination and disenfranchisement under the centuries-old caste system that structures Hindu society."

Can't fire all of them that practice it, most are in mgmt. It's rampant in RTP too.

The caste system is inhumane and needs to be stamped out good and proper everywhere, not just in Cisco. The company needs to IMMEDIATELY fire any and all these caste overlords and even press civil charges against them if they are discriminating against so-called lower caste folks.

Yes. I have witnessed this at Cisco.

I used to work at Cisco and recall people telling me that this person and that person are nobody in India. I was shocked that someone would say that. I felt bad for the people who are the recipient of this type of treatment.

Sadly it's true.

Cisco does NOT have a specific policy to address this abuse. At least years ago they did NOT have.

Hopefully it will change, because there should be no place for this type of culture of abuse.
