Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

You know what I noticed?

I see two types of people posting here. Those who hate Chevron and think it's a horrible place to work and those who love this place and will jump down people's throats at even a mention of something being wrong here. There seems to be no middle, it's one or the other. I find it funny that the same company can produce such opposite reactions from its employees while treating everybody the same. What does that say about us?

I have seen the Yin and Yang in employment you speak of. However, I do agree that this has so much to do with the BU the person is in and the difference tends to be in whether you work for a Leader or a Manager. At the end of the day, Chevron is a good company compared to many others and if people don't like it they have the freedom to leave. Notice though that they don't!

Well adjusted people who are content with their lives do not sit at their computer all day in a rage looking for sites to vent, troll or seeking validation for their perceived greatness. Welcome to the internet. 2% of the CVX reads this site.

Your CEO only makes 80 times more than the average employee...what? ... sounds like a socialist company. If any good he should move on to greener pastures.

Yes, it's not right when you have people that can't get a promotion or any sort of career development.

@arp. Jealous much? Worry about your own salary and performance and less about everyone else. You'll get much close to your goal that way.

Disagree, there is plenty in the middle who likes their jobs but sometimes doesn't like how they are treated or dislike the policies that kept them at the same PSG for decades while they watch some drones climb the ladder.

They are hardworking but not stupid. That's where the problem is. Stupidity is sometimes bliss.

Why would anyone in their right mind want a world where everyone is treated the same?

It may be true that you have polar opposites on this site, but I can assure you chevron does not treat everyone the same.

They would like you to think that, but in reality, they do not. Anytime you see a CEO Who makes 80 times the average income of the typical employee you have a company that does not treat everyone the same.

Yes, I know he is the one in charge and as such should be making more than everyone else but 80 times? Really? Is anyone really worth that much? Honestly, I just find it completely immoral.

I am even okay with the CEO making 10 times that of the average employee but 80 times? It is outrageous! And I can’t believe people see that and think they are not being discriminated against.
