Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

US layoffs

Does anyone have any idea when the "studies" are going to come out regarding layoffs in the US? When would non-voluntary layoffs first happen? Before EOY? PIP time next year (April-June)? Also, tangentially related, why should I be working my a– off for a company that I am sure will be firing me soon? Or even if I am wrong and they aren't going to fire me, why should I be working my a– off for a company that has me THINKING that they will be firing me soon?

@1xpu you may want to thank GE since DW just knocked off of their system. At least EM tells you that you are being let go in lieu of putting a box outside your office as an indicator.

They already actioned Australia and all of Europe without “board endorsement”. Your timelines are all BS.

I believe we’ll find out numbers for NA before Thanksgiving. And Wood’s forum scheduled for tomorrow cancelled this morning. EventX went out 15th and as of last night (19th), not one single question was posted on sli-do...

There will be no Announcements by Darren. This is earnings "quiet" period. No announcements that move the stock. Don't expect anything until after 4Q Div and earnings announcement. Maybe some news in Nov and Dec, but I expect nothing till after Company Plan is Board endorsed at end of Nov. Company never does layoff during Holidays, so that means Jan, but then we are in Earnings quiet period, so no announcements...Earliest is Feb .

Company plan is reviewed with Board around Thanksgiving. Management bonuses and restricted stock come out then also. YE earnings at end of Jan. Reserve adds announced in Jan and any impairments. Will be able to quick competitor work based on published earnings by Feb 21. Then the investors meeting in March. Do not expect big changes until 1Q21. just in time for another round of rankings and PIPs. Bottom third need to be looking for a JOB, or pray for $60/B oil by 1Q21

How can people be productive if they are in a state of constant anxiety?

DW’s been hiding out in his pod for 8 months. If he has nothing substantive to announce tomorrow, then it’s a d–k move.

Darren will be giving a town hall talk, but it's pure speculation as to whether he'll announce anything definitive regarding planned layoffs or reorg projects.

I thought they were going to announce it on Wednesday (10/21)? Is that not correct?

They are waiting for the study to complete with the teams having a plan to release to the company, likely they will release a statement before the end of the year with layoffs extending over multiple year time frame.

No one really knows what is going to happen, timing, etc. Except for the team completing the study. Any information people are commenting on here is just speculation and not definitive.

A senior LT told me they don’t want to release the HW3 studies early because they think morale and productivity will tank. They prefer to keep people guessing and hoping that if they work hard enough, they’ll have a chance of surviving.
