Took ER & applied for Unemployment benefits

My application was approved. My state contacted Cisco and they agreed to pay.

When I was let go in 2017 I also applied for unemployment in Florida; they said because I had severance, which is considered income, I didn't qualify. Maybe things have changed but that was my experience; and maybe it is different in other states. I wish you luck. Layoffs are mentally draining and job hunting if you are over 50 is not fun, but at least I got to take time off and travel. Also, some markets are better than others.

It takes 10 minutes to apply online, just go ahead and apply.
The state CONTACTS CISCO to confirm the reason you are unemployed and says if they will pay.
I don't understand why you won't just apply. If you're not eligible, you will not be approved.
I didn't apply right away because I foolishly read and believed what people wrote in this forum.
Don't forget to indicate that the staff reduction was due to COVID as CR is on record stating..."macro impact".

No brainer, ER was a LAYOFF as you would have been been fired anyway for being 50+

I really find it hard to believe that unemployment gets paid out if you voluntarily leave a job, but than again, rules can vary from state to state. We will see what my state has to say.

I'm also in TX and took ER too - but have not filed yet. Did they even question it? Please add any pertinent details on the reason/justification you submitted in your claim that you think helped get it approved. Thanks.
