IBM doesn’t have access to ANY user base to enable its AI models to compete with Google (world AI leader 2.8 bn user base , Amazon (worlds e-commerce giant), Microsoft (office 365, windows).

It will never be able to compete. It’s already lost and cannot catch up, even with this software known as redhat. That’s not going to help it advance AI. As for Watson. What a marketing joke that is.

This is important for IBM's comeback. High caliber talent is not easy to find. IBM once held some of the brightest minds in the business, but in an effort to cut costs eliminated so many of it's top talent. The best of those then took up residency in AWS, Microsoft and Google.

As an engineer, IBM would not be my first choice, and it has nothing to do with the salary.

I challenge this. New hires in the last 6 months are being brought in between 1.2 and even up to 1.4 PMR. I have seen it approved. But IBM does not pay for loyalty and if you stay for more than 2 years, the market laps you. Hence the massive brain drain and discrepancies in salary in the survey. Also not granting stock to individual contributors is a stupid and cheap move. It’s worth mentioning that it’s not just SWEs who are underpaid- GBS and even some roles in GTS are way behind market.

Why do you think Ginni and IBM have been focused on “collar” jobs over the last 18 months They know GTS has to move to that, while the remaining IBM has to pay more If they don’t transition, they will be an also ran
