See the subject - currently HR is conducting empathy training for the coming layoffs with HW3 and TMTS for managers. It's about as useful as it sounds.

I have direct reposprts a day several in PIPS. No such training ...
Those of you who write that people have been "unjustly" PIP'd (as if that actually means something) even though they were "solid" performers, really need to do some reading on FORCED distribution and RELATIVE ranking.
Seems like many of the people on this site need this empathy training also.. Looking at the comments just in this thread, it's say yall are all sick and need the help.
Like painting a cow to look like a zebra. Doesn't fool anyone but the id*ots with the paint brushes.
What a fracking joke ! Empathy is a basic human trait - you either have it or you don’t. If they teach teach empathy from a WebCat module, then maybe DW can take one on how to run a business.
When my supervisor gave me my NSI message, he displayed absolutely no emotion at all. He couldn’t have appeared less interested. I’m sure that after his training, he be the same arrogant a-hole that he always was. And by the way - he was an experienced hire about 5 years ago.
@kur+17xDuVbs - I think he is referring to some good solid performers that got PIP’d unjustly so XOM could hit numbers and maintain their fake “no layoffs”.
I have to agree that a quite a few of my colleagues unfairly got thrown under the PIP bus.
This manager empathy training comes across as hollow and meaningless.
If you think there weren't any poor performers that really needed to be let go, then you are apart of that bucket that truely was NSI.
Get over yourself, exxonmobil is not the only company that PIPs employees.
If you have to train them in email thy should they really have made it to a damn manager position? Everyone in charge of promotions over the last three years should be five
HR is the most over staffed in the organization. Half of HR and all expats should be gone.
Now you want to train on empathy? After public slander and denouncing your employees In one of the worse economic crisis in history to save your own stupid pride, no one gives a sh– what xom leaders learn about empathy.
They take a webcat module, and ‘poof’’....empathy! Hahaha
If training works, they should have one for profitability.. gosh.. we won’t be here talking about all these “trainings”
you canNOT wash the scum of these scum bag managers. HR is making up stuff to keep their jobs alive. They know as well as everyone else that the managers at EM will never become good humans. It is just business at usual at good old EM – peeps keep coming up with useless activities/ideas to prove their worth.
Empathy was clearly not a priority for them as they recently kicked 10% of the workforce to the street. If supervisors need training to be more empathetic with their employees as they terminate their employment for no other reason than to cut costs, that doesn’t say much for the character of the supervisors and our culture. HR and empathy are oxymorons, so this training is likely a Law-approved set of talking points for the supervisor to keep the company out of legal trouble as they communicate the lay-off to the employee. Maybe 1 or 2 sanitized “empathy” comments thrown in to try and minimize future activity on this site.
All managers are going through this?
Had a former manager who went through one of these sessions, came out the same piece of s—t he went in as.
