They’re not layoffs. They’re “financial exercises”

Hit the nail on the head.

McFresh said that all organizations would be affected by layoffs, but that’s not at all true! Some orgs actually hired more personnel and we’re still trying to figure out why!

Let me put it to you in the simplest terms possible! T is not a good place to get comfortable and plan a long term career with a cushy retirement! It used to be, no doubt, just not anymore! While employed, take advantage of TAP and any other training you can acquire at their expense, then move on! It’s that simple! Trust me, I’ve been with T a long time and have been lucky to hang on all the years I have, but had to jump around constantly just to stay employed!

Been with ATT for over 3 decades and it’s a constant! The layoff threat ALWAYS looms over your head, the problem is you never know when it’s coming to a group near you! Just when you think the work is very slow and people are sitting around being unproductive, you begin to worry, nothing happens! All of a sudden, the employees are busy little beavers even working overtime and suddenly it’s announced out of nowhere, the dreaded reduction in headcount! We never hear about it or ever know it’s coming, it just does because some incompetent senior level manager says he thinks it’s time!

3to 4 times every year put a couple of years in and leave. It is a cesspool and a lot better places to work.

If you are an older white male - always. Female or minority or a family member - not so much.

Every time they need some money to paper over the latest Senior Mgt F-up, which is pretty much always.

Always. I was there 33 years and it was constant.

Pretty much constantly. Now of course it all depends on what group you’re in if you’ll be affected or not, but the layoffs occur every quarter.

I'm new here, if that isn't obvious.
