Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Did not pass PIP?

I am on PIP and haven’t been informed of the result. If anyone here has not passed, I was hoping you would be kind enough to share how the process worked. Did your supervisor and HR meet with you? Did the security walk you out after they tell you the result? Do you lose your healthcare coverage the day you are terminated?
Just want to know so I am mentally prepared for what to expect if the result is “no pass”.

Your insurance coverage ends at the end of the month your employment ends by the benefits policy. So in your case, you are covered until 10/32 automatically then you have the option for cobra.

Lol. No it isn't. You aren't going to get a dime for anything by trying to take a lawsuit to exxon. Unless you can prove race or age bias against you, a "they didn't talk to me about if I was improving or not" case will be thrown out. Waste of time and waste of money.

For the Medical coverage, COBRA as described is pricey but the option.
For lack of communication regarding your progress under PIP - that's worth recording and discussing with someone outside the company. In February.

I echo what @atx+17yUSRR5 said. I was told last week I passed. Why your supervisor isn’t being open with you is just rude!

Good luck!

You shouldn’t lose health insurance immediately. I believe you have the right to stay in the XOM programs for 18 months. I wrote my first check today $600.53 for November health/dental/ vision individual policy. Actually I had until The end of December to decide but I knew I wanted to stay on my insurance so I wrote the check today. It is called COBRA. I took PIL in July. So if you can pay the full premium health insurance for 18 months isn’t a concern.

If you do not pass PIP. You are gone as of Nov 01 2020. They will get your badge, any keys and your computer. HR will meet with you if you fail and be present to make sure everything is explained to you
as why you did not pass. I don't know when insurance lapses as we pay bi weekly but it does not last long after you leave. Security can and may be present. HR is there to make sure it is done by the book and you can't sue. I know one person who was PIPed and passed a few years ago and he was personally told by the supervisor and called by HR. Good luck but we may all join you soon with the layoffs coming.

I was fortunate not be PIP’d but totally p-ss-d with XOM for the way they handled this “fake PIP”. They should have been decent and called them layoffs like the other oil majors did.
I know of colleagues who were good performers that got PIP’d and I know of slackers that did not get PIP’d. The whole process seemed arbitrary.

Look into COBRA for health insurance (if needed)

I feel it for you, and sorry you have to go through this. I think you should just set up some time with your supervisor tomorrow, and ask them what to expect. They should own this, and at least be human in the process. Best of luck! There’s always a rainbow after the storm.
