Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

When is the next LR?

I survived this LR & ER, been here at Cisco for 17+ years, over 50 white male. I don't know what to do next. They didn't offer me ER even though I qualified for it. I even gave hints to my director, but nope, nothing.

I know people who passed up the ER only to get laid off later.

Don't leave money on the table.

Take the package and find a more stable company.

It seems that they are aligning the countries more to a common date. Fran (PBUH) said at the last meeting that 83% of people in 54 countries had been notified that their jobs were at risk (would not tell us the number, though).

"The next LR notices go out on Weds. Dec. 2"? Is that for US, EU or global?

What I want to know is whether the next round will also get 6 months severance as well, or if packages will start to get smaller. I can’t see how the 6 month package can possibly be sustainable if they’re trying to cut costs.

Wonder whether they saved higher severance packages for ER and technical folks, and reduced packages will be given to sales, marketing, customer support etc. in the next round.

Look now
Economic and political uncertainty are all factors moving forward
anticipating a contraction coming to tech sector as it is over valued by 10x

They didn't offer you the CEP? Did you check your spam folder?

Yes, exclusions decided by BU. No PE, DE and People above a certain IPF.

The next LR notices go out on Weds. Dec. 2 (not Nov. 11 as stated below, which is a U.S./Cisco holiday). ER notices are auto-generated based on age and years of service, not hand picked by mgmt and not performance related. However, there were specific exclusions w/ this round, i.e., if you were re-hired in FY20 and several others disqualifiers. Check the fine print of the initial announcement, the exclusions are clearly listed.

Do you know your Director's wife?

Sad part is guessing future potential LR / ER probably have lower payout terms.

Many old-timers probably hoping for that pot-of-gold at the end of the rainbow based on the past batches.

You mileage may vary.

Do not pass go.
Do not collect $200.

The game of LR/ER Monopoly.

You will eventually land on Boardwalk or Park Place.

But the hotel room might look more like the $14 rent payout at St. James Place

I've been in layoff meetings, performance was never discussed. Cisco is a relationship based culture. Brown-nosers survive and thrive at Cisco.

Now back to quietly sabotaging my co-workers projects...

If you think you are vulnerable you should start looking; use your network. My white male, 55+ spouse was laid off in the Spring and was fortunate enough to find something else through a friend (at less pay, but we are both grateful he found something with health insurance). There are lots of engineers looking right now and your age (and ethnicity) puts you at a disadvantage.

Next LR is Nov 11th. Cisco needs to save another $1B. Heads will roll again but no ER this time. Just plain LR with less benefits.

as a company cisco is a loser. most engineers are hanging in there to get the h1b or return to their country. if they go to any of faang companies they will suffer. the VPs are all horrible and just trying to make money

So because he’s been at Cisco he was hiding? If he didn’t get the ER it means he’s a high performer. Maybe he’s just a bit better than all the people on this board that got LR’d years ago. It’s ridiculous that people try and feel better about being let go by saying the people that do not get hit are losers.

OP is a classic example of a brown-noser. You got 15yrs till retirement. Keep on brown-nosing.

No doubt you've hidden through out your 17 years at Cisco so was it a case of your director forgot you were still at cisco?

if you qualified for ER it's up to you to say if you want to take it rather than wait for someone else to suggest it.
