I was a Pioneer retread and came back in 2001, now with the Exxon M&A there is no going back. I have been packaged and gone now for 5 years think I can speak more to Pioneer. The security had much distrust of all employees and the 1-800 fink line did not help; it was a way to as--------e character and people that were doing their job. Those that were doing the finking were the ones that were stealing the company bind in land deals, cattle, equipment but the head bandit was never caught, and he ruined many of a career. More than once I was on the hotseat someone suspected I was passing information to the Texas State Agencies, way too much power with one man that started as a policeman in Odessa. I would work with an Independant again because the working people are incredible. Watch LANDMAN in the early Days there was a Norris the fixer in Pioneer. He had a 5th of bourbon in his desk drawer, and probably was having s-x with some or ALL of his female employees, but he is long gone

Due to complexity of field operation and lack of expertise the company will be facing major challenges:
Negative production growth between 15 to 25% 2021
Double digit increase in LOE

Loss of crude oil quality that will lead to rejection from downstream buyers

By end of 2023 PXD will be filing for bankruptcy this is very sad to say I will not be going back to such a company

A hard no for me , you see I worked at a service company for years and my goal was always to get in with a Major oil company. Well I did with PNR long story short from start to finish it was HORRIBLE and cut throat . Management in charge with zero field experience not asking B/U leads for advice on anything, just making knee jerk decisions making our lives miserable. I TRULY THOUGHT I would use my skills at PNR but all I did was deal with goal slides, Subcommittee meetings that amounted to zero in the field, meetings to schedule another meeting to go to another meeting LoL RCAs over stumping a toe And a bunch of smart dumb people. I’m sooooooo glad to be GONE! To the few that I worked with that actually had common sense thank you for helping me when I needed you.

If you stop by any shell gas station you can see pic of Parsley CEO on top of the gas pump he immediately got a board seat at PXD and job at Shell
I would go back to PXD as a side part time job May be a counselor

Speaking of clubs don't forget the HR sponsored Cupcake club at Hwy 80, took a squad of staff to determine what type of sprinkles to go on top. Also, someone in this thread hit the nail on the head on gaming the PMP system. It is like taking only PE and Music in college to get the 4.0 GPA. I remember a company meeting and SS admitted to the then HR VP (gone to pursue other interest, he had a cot in his office???) that the PMP was horrible and needed to be replaced. The replacement should have been the line manager knowing what their employees did. Those that took pride in their work set difficult goals that would challenge them to meet by the end of the year. Those that wanted a trophy and more $$$$ for just showing up received the top performer year after year. With high performance came a larger bonus and stock options. Those were the ones on the HR Hwy 80 sprinkles and cup cake committees. When I did my annual, (NOT A LOWER GI BUT CLOSE) I always marked myself performing across the board. The cards were already stacked against you by the time you had your annual PMP review. The PMP reviews became a form of pervasive corporate socialism, money to the top and the crumbs to the bottom. The result was a progressive year upon year of rewarding worsening performance and a dumbing down of the entire employee structure. Agree it was a great place to work until five years ago

Sadly, I’d have to agree with my ex-colleagues. When I started with PXD, I was in awe of the place. The brain power, the strong management and the “oil and gas people” running the place. Almost 15 years later that was gone, replaced by PMP crazed employees desperate for any kind of authority, where dissent was equal to insubordination and where I was constantly surprised at the people picked to lead and manage the company. Pioneer got fat and happy when prices were high and never recovered. They took their eyes off the ball- who can remember the book clubs, 1,000,000 in ten, MTG Consulting, the pep rally at the Toyota Center, Operations Excellence, Tech Conferences, Team Building, Metrics/KPIs, and the endless SpotFire presentations all of which added little or nothing to oil and gas production?
Pioneer was great for my family and for that I’m forever grateful but tragically, even with PE, they’re simply lost and coasting now. To those of you remaining there I wish you the best.

Not at all. While PXD used to be progressive, inclusive and offered unique benefits, things have worsen over time and this has nothing to do with commodity prices. The treatment of individuals should be evident on the number of people venting on this website. A very poor work life balance, less progression, clueless or uncaring management, and overall low job satisfaction from what I hear.

While the market is tough, there are still jobs out there. PXD does not offer anything to be missed. The people were one of PXD's greatest saving assets and most of those have been cut. Another severance package would be the only reason to go back.

Thanks for the responses, but let’s try to keep it respectful. Let’s avoid name calling arguments.

However, a hard no to the current PXD is the sentiment I’ve gotten from folks I spoke to. Most people say that would go back to Pioneer before reorg 1.0.

Took the original VSP, have a great position now with a great company and people. But to answer your question...yes, to the PNR of 5 years ago...no, to the current PNR. But that's just me.
