Over the next 10-15 years, I expect this company’s marketplace will become completely vertical. Direct to Consumer provides the greatest margin opportunities and once enough members are engaged, there will not be enough reason to sell to 3rd party wholesalers. If that happens, hundreds of internal jobs will be redundant and simplified.
Foot Inc, saw this coming last year when they invested in GOAT, and there will be more investments like this to come.
I believe this change to vertical is not only predictable, but inevitable and crucial to maintaining margin growth year over year.
We’ve only seen the beginnings of true CDA, there is so much more simplification to be done and it will completely transform this company forever.

If JD stays true to his word you can expect 20% "top graded", ie. let go, every year. He is on the record stating this is his approach, atleast with leaders.

I agree with both @bqm and @fbc only @fbc's attitude is a little wanting!

If you think this will end then I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. As long as Nike has to make Wall St. happy every quarter there will be reorgs and layoffs. I'm thinking at least twice a year, once at the end of the FY and then around the holidays.

In a way, yes. We know that 2020 layoffs will bleed into the early to mid 2021 based on the recent Technology All Hands mixed messages we had to endure, again. Now, depends on the outlook of the pandemic, more layoffs will occur - I just do not trust Nike's ELTs saying that layoffs were not because of financial performance. Got to keep the stock price up and reduce the operating costs. How do you reduce operating costs in a felt measure? Reduce the wage bill.
