Agree completely, it is a disgrace the way they laid off employee in IBM Canada, no compassion at all, they should start cleanup some manager that are still doing the same jobs for years handling the same people for at least 10 years, that way younger employee can take their jobs and be more proactive and bring more new ideas.

Absolute disgrace the way employees laid off during the pandemic where those judging didn’t even know the role of those they judged to be scored low to suit the agenda of removing those acquired in high salary bands and of age. During a pandemic not one facet of IBM management corporate or local showed any compassion for the situation and lack of respect or care. Absolutely the worst employer I ever endured and amazed they could ever win business when they treat employees with contempt and have no process driven within doumented.

Impossible PIPs? I'm expecting one. Been doing great for quite a while - but as folks have retired past few years - several major, entire, subsystems, have been added to my workload. Go figure I'm no longer keeping up with +2 retiree's workload added to mine. Grrr.

Expect a resource action following official Kyndryl spin off. Notifications to occur between Nov 3 and Dec 31, or Q1 depending on pending a few unsettled decisions.

IBM was a Big Family before, taking care , now employee have damocles sword over their head all the time, they dont know who will be next.

Can confirm that 60% - 70% of U.S. marketing team laid off this week. Looks like a large consultancy is advising them on this.

You say this, and yet I see little evidence of IBM having done any mass layoffs lately. Yes, they have done their usual trickle of layoffs, but the worst is yet to come. A lot of the people I used to work with at IBM are still there, and several of them should have been let go a long time ago. What you may be seeing is those capable of getting a better job, do just that and quitting, leaving lower quality to carry the load - not the best business model for future growth. So maybe there isn't future growth in some areas (Systems), and there will be forced layoffs. We are all waiting to see what transpires in the next six (?) months, but nobody knows exactly when the big axe will fall.

First time posting seeing so many former brilliant colleagues still biting the dust in droves.

What the senior leadership team doesn't understand - and has never understood: The practice of mercilessly laying off countless thousands over the years in a cruel (and likely illegal) way just to goose their compensation created countless thousands of senior industry decision makers that would never do business with the company as a result. I was lucky - RAed after 38 years a while back with a package when I wasn't ready but also simultaneously "retired", then found a new, more senior role in a great company that is exponentially more rewarding. There is life - a far better, less-stressful and more rewarding life after Big Blue. I wish for the business to succeed, but the leadership continues to sc--w the pooch as they have for decades with their misguided practices that went out the window along with "Respect for the Individual" and "Think" - which the senior leadership team obviously doesn't and cannot do other than lining their own pockets.

Hey sadibmer. Just curious what your job was. I was Level 2 in storage (systems) and I still have a lot of friends working at IBM. Seems like the current focus is to move jobs to Bulgaria.

Honestly, wont be long ,if you're locate in North America, they will get your replacement from India, Egypt at 1/3 of your salary (at the base), I'm 64 was not ready to leave after 40 years. still like my job,level2-3,did no have choice , they said they need to cut , was told they prefer to layoff men than women (they are more protected with all is going with human equal right) and they hired someone the next day in Egypt.

The spin off company provides a mechanism to transfer folks and unwanted assets there. Then it becomes the problem of the spin off company on day1 to get rid of any folks or any assets that are not wanted. Would not be surprised if this were to happen in some capacity. Time will Tell.

Honesty on this ? Probably not.

No bruh, it's because of old-timers such as yourself with outdated skills that are on cruise control collecting a paycheck and complaining how bad IBM is. I wish they lowered the age discrimination cuts to 45.

This kind of stupidity is the reason that IBM is failing as a company. Too many IBMers don't believe in data and science.

Why are they making a health pass. The fake virus which is no worse than the flu is about to go away. We won't need it.

IBM is too liberal to be successful. watch out, IBM also is deep into the development of covid passports in the US. Of course they dont call it covid passport, but that's exactly what the Digital Health Pass is.

So far virtually no layoffs in March or in April. It will be interesting to see what May brings, especially since that is when the Kyndryl offers should all be out by.

Yes PIPs going out all the doors with unattainable goals ! But only those over 50 and the others achieved nothing towards sales and I did $18M - So unfair after 20 years my 1st PIP ever!! And HR is supporting the lies ! What a way to end a brilliant career - and now nlt even paying out ouf Quarterly bonus as tbey afe denying wechieve them!! Downfall of what was obe a great company.. if you get a PIP- do t waste your time like I did being a super great employee - just start looking as they won’t let you go to another job while on a PIP!!!!!

Today, Wednesday 31-March across Australia, many retrenched IBMers had their last day (the January wave). Folks from now shut down Research team in Melbourne, sellers from now shut down Global Markets and many others. Good luck folks!

@1Xfru that's awful! If I got put on a pip for the purpose of laying me off without proper severance I would immediately go to a lawyer and start a wrongful dismissal case.
Can you tell us what country and business unit you are in?
