Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

SLS and Department Head Jobs

I worked in few other companies before and currently work in BTES - Baytown Tech and Eng Specialists. In other companies, there were no SLSs, no department heads. I used to report to my manager who had 75 people reporting to him. All of us knew what we were supposed to do. No one checked what time you came or went. People were dedicated, faithful and the company prospered and there was good team work. I have never understood why in BTES for example there are like 7-10 SLSs, then there is a department head and then there is another manager on top. If ExxonMobil saw how other better performing companies are doing, you can completely layoff these useless SLSs, department heads and managers - this can save a billion dollar or so worldwide I think. Can someone tell me why something so obvious and something other successful companies are doing is not adopted in ExxonMobil. These SLSs check timesheets versus magnetic badge access etc. and are totally useless and unproductive.

To Post ID: @jau+189tJtqb who asks me the OP to go back to those other companies - I am coming up with useful ideas, hoping that upper management is reading these posts and may wake up. If you are one of the 32 NFL teams and you are ranked at the bottom, do you not try to emulate the successful NFL teams or do you keep repeating the failed policies? You must be a SLS or a department head I think. Only your post got like 20 negative reactions and all other posts have large positives. Sink your head back to your sh–hole you jerk. You are too dumb to take good ideas from successful companies. People like you caused Exxon to fail and people like you will prolong a recovery if there is going to be one. You are toxic.

All those layers is because someone decided that the majority of degree personnel must move to management as a supervisor even when proved over and over that some should never be supervising! Instead of demoting, they just move them around and then you end up with way to many SLS...

ExxonMobil is a 5hit hole organization of layer os layers of useless and toxic management. I will give you an example of RTD (former URC) and you can judge:

1 function manager, 3 supervisors, 8 team leads, 1 Chief, 3 STP-Cs, 2 recruiting coordinators, 4 safety leads all with PhD degrees and highly paid >> to manage total 40 people who together produced nothing over a period of 15 years.

If the corporation doesn't see the glaring problem – it is destined to doom.

SLS for immediate work groups of 6-12 people make sense but DH’s are probably redundant

Management layers need to be eliminated to save cost and pay the dividend - simple!

As a shareholder, I want as many useless white-collar employees gone and useless managers and supervisors gone.

Pay the dividend!!

You can always go back to the few other companies you worked before since it is greener there. You are busy worrying about your Supervisor rather than adding value in your own capacity. I can't understand why some folks (mainly experienced hire) don't understand the structure

It takes a long time to turn a large ship. Also bureaucracy breads more bureaucracy.
