Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

New Leader will not make a difference

Replacing DW with Mittens / kittens is not going to matter. It will have the same level of effectiveness as $hitting in your pants and changing your shirt...… hoping it will make a difference🤣

The bottom line is our industry is going through some really tough times and only God can help us now👍

The company spends money on refineries? Lol! That made me laugh

Companies continue to fall through history. It can happen to any of them. Failure to learn. Blindspots that people are afraid bring to light. The emperors new clothes.

Deciding another industry will be tough. Chemicals, pharmaceuticals..
I’ve worked in chemicals and the work load is much less and much less responsibility.
I’m not sure about pharma, but I’m guessing the same.

It s—s to leave a role where you get to basically run a unit, get to manage large projects, get to experience all that happens in a refinery, and to have to go to a place where money isn’t spent and you are sidelined. This s—s. And pay is much less. Ugh.

It’s a culture issue. Replace the ceo, board, key VP’s and re-structure the company.

Looking at other companies that encourage and allow innovation as to how they do that eg Tesla, spaces, some renewables, etc.

European IOC’s aren’t’ hedging with renewables, they don’t have any competitive oil and gas projects to invest in! It’s called talking your book.

Or not. I don’t see us returning to record profitability anytime soon. European IOCs are hedging with renewables but certainly are ready to invest if prices go up. Everything I am seeing shows reason to believe we won’t hit much more than $50 ever again.

Lack of investments should be a warning sign, not a silver lining.

Buy XOM when you can. There is a windfall to be had. Oil and Gas is not going anywhere, plus there is hardly any investment in the sector which will make it scarce for next couple of yeas. Every dark cloud has a silver lining. So this doom and gloom will end, be ready to make hay when the sun shines.

Its possible that it won't end up making much of a difference, but you still gotta do it. You should not reward failure or mediocrity in a capitalistic system. Sends the wrong message.
