F-150 quality issues will hurt Q4 2020 and Q1 2021 revenue

Apparently Detroit Metro Airport and the Flat Rock Assembly plant aren't the only places piling up F-150s that need seatbelts and software updates. They are also being stored in Kansas City at an AMUSEMENT PARK. Made me laugh, Ford making amusement park rides that can't legally be driven on the roads. But on the down side, don't count on any 2020 bonuses, as it appears earnings may be negative.

The only place to cut expenses is salaries.....

@2rbp+18Dk4qqs Production vehicles should not even be rolling off the line for rework. Especially not when it is the ONE launch the company absolutely positively cannot screw up. They should have learned from the Explorer debacle and taken the time to get it right the first time. This much rework after the fact is unacceptable.

@1lfg+18Dk4qqs the reason they rush the F150s out the factory door is that Ford books the sale of the vehicle when it exits the factory door, even though it is setting in a parking lot waiting to be repaired before making its way to a dealer.
So the way they do it makes Ford sense, but not good sustainable business sense.

Does this make us look bad? Yes. Is it better to not put vehicles with known issues into dealer lots and in customers hands? Bigger Yes.

If I recall the was the exact problem with Explorer/Aviator - vehicles made it into people’s hands that had no business being released. Seems to me maybe the powers that he did learn something after all. sure, would be great to not have any issues at first, but since the entire auto industry has shook down the supplier base for at least a decade, what does anyone reasonably expect nowadays?

Never enough time to do it right the first time, always enough time to do it over. Out of process reworks are going to compromise this important launch... Wash, rinse, repeat. 2020 Explorer had to be reworked twice because the first time around was botched. So seatbelts, hmm. Hope they are tracking and documenting the torques... Oh wait out of process... Sure the $10/hour rework tech will be totally motivated to make sure the job is done right...

Henry Ford College parking lot in Dearborn was full of F150's. Don't know if they were being reworked or just stored until shipment.

No matter what don’t you dare stop that assembly line. You are supposed to shut the line down and slow build to get it right before normal line speed. Another way is to add stations and tooling where you can build a new truck every 4 th currrent 150. Don’t know why you would build what seems like hundreds of new 150 and tweak later??? This doesn’t seem right. Bring back the retired launch teams and adopt their SOP for the newbies!!!
