Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Chevron Midland

Visiting from the ExxonMobil (XTO) board. We’ve had our 20% cost of living adjustment cut and our savings plan match eliminated. Ask don’t have an HMO option for insurance just an expensive high deductible out of network plan. Is the grass any greener on the Chevron side? You certainly have a better office. We don’t even have a gym at our c-appy HH building. Should I be looking to jump ship once you start hiring again and join the Chevron team?

Chevron handled this downturn better than most. We had a big lay-off but it was part of a planned reorg and was not near as deep as it could have been. Sounds like Exxon took the hit flat footed and now is in a panic reorg. Times are changing in this industry and those without clear long-term vision can easily fall from the path. Military top down organizations like Exxon tend to do well in static environments but tend to be more challenged when flexibility is required.

If you are stuck in Midland, upside down in your home mortgage and are laid off too, leave your phone number here. For a small cash advance fee, I will refer you a trusted arsonist with over 20 years experience.

The OP seems troubled. S(He) has been posting the same question repeatedly on the EM board. Nothing really wrong with that I suppose.

OP, I feel your pain. I have been there. Maybe you could do what I do... give it a rest; kick back with some Colorado Sweet Tooth or Huckleberry Purple Crush. This will help settle your nerves and provide you with a fresh perspective. Just a thought.

OP, Perhaps you should quit the company and seek your fortune else where. (Although you will rarely find greener grass in this troubled industry). What I did instead was s— it up year-after-year-after-year and then finally leave financially independent. Those 35 years of keeping my head down, focusing on my job and saving money while towing the company line and kissing a boat load of a$$ was well worth it to me. Now, every day is a day off, ah! What a hoot :). Anyway, take care and good luck to you,

What are you going to jump too?

Unless you walk on water, Chevron isn’t hiring anyone right now.

Why would you even ask a question like this on a site called the “layoff”
