Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

XOM Resume Review

There is an outpouring of support offers on LinkedIn from those not (yet) laid off to those laid off recently. The most common service offered is resume editing. What qualifications do these people have for that. Aren't the poor folks who got let go better off working with professional resume writers? I find that fake and pathetic.

Your employment was a fraud. Never should have brought you on in the 1st place. Obviously too dumb to report fraud while with the company and now is speaking out on reporting fraud after being let go. Sounds to me like an unhinged mo–n.

Never forgive those who commit frauds. Your management and employees may have plenty of frauds. Look for every opportunities to expose them. Do not stop and submit as they will eventually trample you if you don’t prepare

Yes! It’s a pathetic approach by ExxonMobil management. A group of us were asked to reach out to those who left the Company involuntarily and give them praise. Are you serious??? What a slap in the face. My heart aches for these people and I won’t be your mole. Maybe that will move me to NSI but, oh well. At this point it’s just a paycheck until I find another job. ExxonMobil management stinks and NO I will never trust anyone there ever again.

Perhaps they are worried that they are shown the door soon as well and are looking for inspiring resume templates?

I'm going to be honest. I'm not qualified to review resumes nor do I have a network that can help anyone find a job. Everyone was posting the help messages on Linkedin so I felt pressured to do the same. In all honestly I'm just looking out for myself and am hoping that I'm seen as a team player so I dont get laid off this year. Pretty sure everyone has done something similar before. Good luck to all. That I do mean.

Correct term is 'EMpathetic'.

@1cmc+18IOMdcY - about once every 1-2 weeks. It takes a quick text message to check in. Some are still depressed so I call them up. Holidays season isn't the time to be laid off. Some tool it pretty hard

And it is particularly disgusting to see all the praise that particular senior exec is getting on LinkedIn for his post, notably from managers in the same organization.

What made me terribly sick was that these senior executives went on LinkedIn to say these are good people.. blah blah.. if they really want to help.. take a pay cut and or donate their dividends.. FAKES!

Was sick see some old man saying he chose to retire to save a spot for another.. Wish that was DW and friends.. ain’t paid a cent less!

@1uad+18IOMdcY How long you keep checking in with em?

As someone who has gone through layoffs previously I did both.. reach out/post on LinkedIn and personaly too.

I also make a Point to check every week and make sure they are doing okay mentally.

A lot of fakers out there but some do genuinely care. 2020 was a sh– year.. it did teach people and especially exxonmobil people to learn to be humble and stop saying we are the best and brightest

Not sure why you'd trust a XOM lifer with resume writing

outpouring of “support”.

They don’t mean it. Try for a social experiment to reach out to ten and see how many respond.

They're the worst - just a blanket "let me know if I can help" with a copy/paste linkedin message, might as well be saying "hope all is well with you".

The ones that care would make the effort to reach out, not wait to be asked.

None. It’s theatre to make themselves look better.
