Be prepared:

  • print or download copies of performance reviews
  • take pictures of other documents as needed.
  • access to your PC will be taken away after you hang up with HR
  • Have logins written down for other HR related sites like mybenefits.com

If you have any personal things on your PC, best bet is to put them in one directory and then email compliance and ask for permission to email it the directory to yourself.

HR is useless, they will only alert the manager that you are complaining. Re: Ethics hotline - the time my staff and I used it to complain about our Group Head's blatant misogyny resulted in him "pursuing another opportunity outside the company". So yes, I agree with the OP, it does work.

Ethics hotline is useless, it's practically catch and k–l. If there is an issue that you need to raise just go directly to HR.

@1tcv - Also be sure to take the number for the Ethics hotline if you really believe that your manager has violated the law. If you have your resume on your work PC, try to find a way to get an electronic copy to yourself. It's a pain to have to re-type it (I know from personal experience, yes, I was stupid and only kept it on my work laptop). In theory, your personal belongings will be sent to you, but mine were not sent for weeks and a lot of my personal effects were either stolen or broken when they arrived. Good luck everyone!

@oxd+18KksCPm If you're really concerned about leaving things behind you'd better pack up your things before hand and have an understanding with someone you can depend on to get them to you. When BNY tells you that your position is being eliminated your next step after that is out the door. You're not allowed to return to your work area. My manager went to get my jacket and bag for me while I was talking to the HR rep about the separation benefits and such. The HR rep then escorts you to the exit and wishes you luck. As for the few items I had in my desk one of my co-workers was decent enough to send them to me without my having even asked him to do so.

This is great advice. My manager has violated numerous federal/state laws (not getting too specific on here....but my manager is too eager and WAY too inexperienced). I've been logging everything I can think of.....can anyone else suggest/recommend any other logs/records I should screenshot before/if the termination call comes in?

Make sure you have access to all your info like the 401k ect. I’m sure we are all use to accessing it from my source.
If you have a flex savings make sure you download the app and try to submit what you can this week.
Does anyone know how we will get out belongings since there’s no one in the office to pack them up.
