Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Google workers have formed the company's first-ever union. Why can't Nike Employees do too?

Hundreds of employees at Google and its parent, Alphabet, have launched a union, a rare step for the tech industry that also represents the biggest and most organized challenge yet to the company's executive leadership.

@1hab, that is totally false. It is a union in every sense.

The "union" that Google workers formed is not your typical union in that they do not have legal cover. It's a glorified activist group who care more about wokeness than giving actual power to the rank and file. Not that Nike can't do better in terms of making sure their products are manufactured ethically, but there are much bigger fish to fry in terms of how much has been taken away from workers and how much more management has.

@bno, seriously? That is on the employees to get it going. Do you think Nike will just invite you to do that or even come out of the blocks with total support?

Nike's pretty good about playing the "divide and conquer" game, so I don't see this happening there as long as there's people who are willing to sell out to join the "club".
