Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

How protected are the rights of pregnant women here?

I am new in this company and now apart from the general stress of whether I will be fired or not, I feel an additional pressure because I found out yesterday that I am pregnant. I am overjoyed but unfortunately I cannot fully enjoy that happiness because I am afraid of how pregnant women are treated in this company.
If anyone here has been in a similar situation, can you please tell me what your experiences were like and give me some useful advice? Are women at greater risk of termination during pregnancy or parental leave...? Any information would be helpful to me.

Congrats! You will be fine! Keep in mind that Nike does not care about people delivering professional tangible results. There are people around there for decades and never delivered a single thing let alone a kid! You will be fine personally!

Don't worry, I think you'll be just fine. Two years ago I was pregnant after being in Nike for less than a year. Everyone I worked with was supportive. It's straightforward to take the leaves, your pay and bonus won't be affected (I thought there was no bonus during std leave due to pregnancy, but I still got the bonus for that six weeks).

There were different kinds of supporting effort, such as mom group on Yammer, prenatal swimming class (pre-covid), etc. All in all, congratulations and good luck!

I think Nike is (now) better than most in this area. Should be fine.

Congrats! I was treated with a ton of support and respect during my pregnancy at Nike and my maternity leave afterwards. Every pregnant person I know at Nike was able to decide how long they wanted to take for maternity leave and what their schedule would be when they return. I know women who were hired while openly pregnant and it was not a big deal. Even when they took maternity leave right after starting. I honestly do not think your pregnancy will have any negative impact on your job security.

They actually changed their policy a bit when I was at Nike because a pregnant employee (I believe a Director, or Sr. Director) basically raised hell and went all the way to Parker because the maternity leave wasn't commensurate with the rest of the industry - especially for a company that promoted itself as being family friendly.

I haven't been there for a couple of years, so I can't speak to the current climate. The fact that they eliminated the on site child care centers is probably not a great sign, since it seems like they're phasing out some of the perks that made Nike employees want to stay for a long time.

First, congratulations on your pregnancy.
Honestly, every pregnant co-worker I have ever known at Nike prior to this Pandemic loved how supported she felt at Nike. Each one made it clear that she was pregnant and protected herself as such. I cannot ask anything of you though I hope you truly enjoy this amazing experience and not stress about it - that cannot be good for you. The rest will be revealed sometime.

Best of luck to you and your family.
