Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

STORE CLOSURES...LIST

Dear colleagues,
In early 2020, we announced that as an organization we would be closing a selection of our Macy’s store locations over a three-year period. Today, following a carefully constructed notification process, colleagues in 31 of our store locations were notified that their doors will be closing in 2021.
A decision to close a store is never made lightly as we know closing a store impacts our colleagues and the communities we serve. Where we can, we will be looking to place colleagues in neighboring locations.
Over the course of the next few weeks, appropriate steps will be taken to ensure these locations receive the support they need leading into their going-out-of-business sales.
This news will be difficult for many of friends and colleagues who work in these locations, so I ask all of our teams to please be sensitive with this information. A complete list of closures is included below. If you have any questions, please reach out to your function leader.

For months and months now I kept hearing how the store I support would close. They are not on the list so hopefully another year at least unless company has other plans. The store was in the Neighborhood list last year of the 125 but has improved since then. The store would have been a great Fulfillment or Backstage only with its ideal location but glad it’s staying open.

To the posters that asked about the other 14, they are listed. They are the 12 previously announced and the 2 dark stores.

I'm confused by the wording of the mention of the two that are fulfillment centers. Are they shutting down now or were they included because of being closed to public shopping last fall??

Thank you for posting. My store is not on the list.. I hate the place but my heart was in my throat when I clicked on this post. As much as I hate it I'd be devastated if it closed. I literally cried a little worrying today. My heart goes out to all of those employees at these stores. We may despise Macys but in a weird way we love it bc our lives are so intertwined with it and our friends and coworkers. I'm sure others understand what I mean. I wish you all the best.
