IC to People's Manager - Same Band (Question)

Hey Everyone,
If my responsibilities change within same team from an individual contributor to people's manager with no change in band, would I get an Increase in pay or would my merit reflect this increase?

Also the letter has nothing to do with being a people leader, but rather in band 7, it distinguishes between exempt and non-exempt. 7Ts are non-exempt, which usually means they are not supervisors, but there could be a rare instance where they are. 7Vs are exempt and can be either a supervisor or individual contributor. A move from 7T to 7V is not a lateral - 7V is higher. One can move from a 7V IC to a 7V supervisor. Same with Band 6, you can be a 6V IC (called managers even though they nah not have direct reports) or 6V Sr. manager (Sr. Managers have directs)

Totally depends on the role and where you are in the pay range. There are “in-band” promotions that you can get a salary increase, and there are others that are just lateral, I would think moving to a people leader in-band would be a slight promotion due to the differing responsibilities. But, if you are a highly compensated IC, they may not be able to give an increase.
That being said, I’d work with your HRBP on this. I’d push for an increase.

Your band may be the same BUT the letter next to it should be different. Bonus percentage range is more for people managers along with 3-5% wage increase. Dependent on existing wage different course.

Rarely. Ask HR, or a Director, for the market reference ranges and see how you compare to the various quartiles. If you’re at or above market, unlikely to get more than 3% potential raise (and only if you ask).

Depends on the jobcode you are moving to, the geo area you are in and where your current salary is in relation to the midpoint of your new jobcode. If it's a formal staffing transaction, any increase should be reflected in the job offer. If not, ask your HR business partner.

You may, or may not. Depends on where you are in your band and whether mgmt wants to pay you more. If they know you’ll do more work for the same amount of money, why would they pay you more?
