Managers invited to RA calls next week

Expected notify date in a week or so. How many people are still trying to find landing spots? Adding RA folks. It will be a bloody fight.

What will happen to folks on those eliminated teams if they can’t find a spot? Do they have a deadline before they have to leave the company?

I suspect Wall Street has come to the articles conclusion that IBM is just playing games with their finances (see below) As such, unless AK changes Wall street’s mind, the bleed will continue. I wish everyone “good luck” over the next two weeks as AK’s hand has been forced via previous managements decisions. The changes have to be big if IBM is going to alter their image as a financial manipulator. Again good luck to all .

I know for a fact that many managers on these eliminated teams are helping their folks get jobs in the few open headcounts available. If you haven't gotten a job yet, it's going to be real slim pickings. The mad rush for seats on the bus happened last week.

Folks who are formally on "The List" (I.e., officially RA'd) won't really be competition to the folks who are NOT on it. While it's not IMPOSSIBLE to get another internal job while on the list, it's very rare and fair to guess that it's even less likely in the current environment. Anyone who doesn't have a seat on the bus TODAY, as in you haven't been moved to a different cost center and reporting structure already, is safer to consider themselves without a job. The ONLY way to get a role now is if a team with open headcount will spend their "ticket" on you. So, best thing to do (aside from search externally) is to find one of those teams ASAP. Good luck, everyone!

DLV You are closest to the pin. New IBM (Redhat in all of its iterations) will be unrecognizable from old IBM. If you want to work for old IBM, you should be aiming for GTS and Newco. This is Valuejet and AirTran all over again Valuejet wrecks it’s image by crashing a DC9 due to not following the safety rules. So what did they do? They went out and bought a new image AirTran and adopted their name. IBM bought Redhats go to market strategy, and now they are just supersizing the staffing.

Global Markets getting hit big time per the announcement on Monday. Europe getting hit across a number of businesses too I hear, although that will take longer to happen.

Rumors of cloud business being hit too.

Which BUs are impacted? IBM is looking at getting rid of 150K people... we already know that approx. 90K are going to NewCo along with Schroeter... that leaves about 60K to lay off... this is going to be across all BUs worldwide.
