Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Single Provider

Oh, well... BNYM changed the health insurance options this year to a c-ap single provider. None of my doctors are in the Anthem database. So, I guess all my medical bills will be out of network then

Still better than their dental coverage. Unless you like Aspen, the Walmart of dentistry...

Actually the Affordable Healthcare Act (commonly known as Obamacare) increased Medicaid benefits by allowing higher income levels into the Medicaid program. For the rest of us it included a 40% tax on employers who offered traditional (renamed to “Cadillac”) plans. Virtually all banks and non-unionized companies were forced to degrade their healthcare offerings. Depending on your family medical needs it can actually be better financially to make less!

Now more than ever it is important to engage and understand what your elected officials actually do.

Google Canada healthcare tax rate. You will see it’s not Fox News. Canadians pay more get less. But sniff the CNN glue all you want

Haha "taxes" and "wait times". You sound like my mother in law. Clearly you've done a lot of homework on Fox news.

Our system is not perfect but the idea of socialized medicine is a joke. If you think it’s free watch what happens to your taxes under a government process. The other “civilized countries “ have ridiculous wait times for treatments. Do your homework before looking for that communist garbage.

Anthem is BC and BS and the doctor network is through the local. For example in Pittsburgh your provider list is through the AHN network.

Anthem is a large Blue Cross/Blue Sheild provider, if your doctor is in network with the local Blue Cross (such as Highmark in the Pittsburgh area) then they're in network with Anthem. Alternatively its how companies are getting around the UPMC/Highmark dispute here in Pittsburgh because UPMC accepts Anthem and all other Blue plans except Highmark. The search engine on their site isn't super intuitive, for instance, it defaulted to a 10 mile radius from my zip but my dr is 50 miles away so I had to change that, it also didn't recognize the practice, I had to put the doctor's last name and it found it.

A lot of people hate the idea of government being in charge of your healthcare but the alternative is big corporations like BNY Mellon having that control. As we've seen, changes to their offerings can have an immediate impact on your ability to see your doctors.

Keep voting for Republicans. Their only interest is keeping people under the boots of corporate America. Tax cuts for the wealthy, nothing for anyone else

The database is broken. Put a ticket in with HR and they should be able to help.

Sick care - from insurance to doctor to hospital to treatment to medicine is the modern day indenture. Where like before iron chains would hold a person owned to their master it is now sick care that holds Americans chained to their masters, the corporations.

You want real freedom support medical services for all, free from corporate association like civilized countries all over the world

I thought the same. I checked under their group name, and it didn’t come up. When I checked by doctors name, they did. Good luck.

no doubt we're going to get screwed on this new plan but I highly doubt your doctors aren't covered. Anthem/Blue Cross is huge and is most likely accepted by reputable doctors.

Yeah, they just keep cutting things. Every year is worse than the previous one.

The worker is getting screwed, always.
