Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layoffs?

When will we have the first large-scale layoff of the year? Isn't there usually one in January?

Yes, get rid of those unneeded workers and save money. For the good of the company and the rest of the employees here. Good job Stankey.

You won't attract any new hires with this non sense. Lowering your bar to be at parity with others is not a way to differentiate yourself. keep on sliding.

They will get lots of retirements because of the elimination of retirement healthcare subsidy if you are still on payroll Jan 1 2022

@zdi...we don’t “just sit in our vans” and do nothing. What a joke, get real man. We go to the CO, our office, a nice shade tree, plenty of other places besides the van.

Oddly enough, you’re spot on about techs sitting in their vans with nothing to do, but they keep hiring more techs! Not really sure or know what their expectations are going forward, but the work just isn’t there and as far as layoffs are concerned in the occupational realm, it’s just not going to happen! Supervisors have said that there are not going to be any more layoffs with Business Services in the near future.

Here is a clue... how many of you are sitting in your van doing absolutely nothing. Just sitting there. Does AT&T really need that many workers sitting there doing nothing?

Usually end of March, June, Sept, Dec. End of quarter layoffs are common but actual dates vary by group. There will be big numbers in some groups and smaller in others. With a three year plan that started last year you should expect a lot again this year. If there are a large number of employees in your group expect impacts. No whispers yet but just a matter of time.

Q1 may be a possibility. That's the difference between paying 9 months salary for those leaving at year end due to the medical changes or 6 months severance.

Probably no layoffs....Company now just deletes benefits until people leave. That way...no severance
