So now we sit at home for the next two weeks “working” and waiting for the verdict and our future to be decided. No matter what they say this will not be merit based as fundamentally each group is given a budget and they have to cut people until they meet that budget. They will say it was based on potential or performance yet the truth is it’s all about getting your group in under the compensation budget. We will once again see a bloated management level which will once again be corrected in a future round of layoffs. The next two weeks will see little of any real work as everyone’s moral sinks lower than the titanic. Already the email traffic is drying up and coming to a slow stop. We will see another round of useless townhalls this week where they tell themselves they are communicating to their staff while really saying nothing new or of value. As they talk through their screens at us we the employees work on our resumes with much eye rolling as the minutes pass us by listening to the bland nothingness. Like being trapped on the other side in Stranger Things where nothing makes sense, you feel lost, and somewhat afraid. I am awash on an ocean of layoff fatigue where I hear words uttered by management but the meaning if there is any just passes me by. As Alex said in the not to recent past, believe me there will be no more layoffs. Ah those where the days when we could look ahead with certainty and plan for our futures. Today we look forward to a year of continual lay offs despite our supreme leaders reassurances.
