In 2018, I was offered a role at Exxonmobil UK in Leatherhead as a graduate in the LNG team. I didn't take the offer as I had a massive fall out with a friend who got rejected after the internship at XOM and for some reason hated me because I was offered the graduate role. I always regretted not joining XOM for the job security and benefits but reading glass door and other forums and seeing people complain about XOM + Force ranking was also some of the reasons I didn't join XOM at the time.
Now, I am working for a Big 4 in a good role, secure role while staying with my parents. I am still not making as much as I would have at XOM but I am saving more as I am living with my parents and this year I am expected to be promoted and match my salary with what I would have got at XOM. However, XOM and its global reach still makes me regret not joining it. My friends at XOM talks very highly of the companies and global opportunities etc. Did I make the wrong choice in hindsight? are they lying to me to make themselves feel better?
