Stop sending out f-ing jobs to India

What happened to quality service? Everything has been given to India. They run our web exes , run help desk and cannot figure sh– out. You cannot understand a word they say and they have no clue how to do the work but let’s let go all the people with knowledge who know what they doing. All so some asshat higher up can cut cost here so they can pocket their jug bonuses while we get 1-2% this year if we’re lucky

That's not really comparable since employees in those locations have a good education, critical thinking skills, high speed internet, transportation etc etc. There's a reason it's cheaper to higher in India even though it costs more.

just looking at the cost and that's it... people in lower cost locations (pittsburgh, syracuse, some locations in UK,...) got jobs from London, NYC, etc... thought they were safe but there is no limit to the greed...

Todd's Fan club, it's more like BNYM is so far behind other companies who outsourced in the 90's and pulled back when they saw that you get what you pay for and there's a ton of overhead so there isn't much of a savings anyway.

Indians discriminate against non-white workers more than whites. This is am\n interesting article . Basically, once an Indian gets into a HR upper management, you can forget about whites being seriously considered.

BNYM is so far behind others. I worked for another Financial "institution" and I'd say BNYM is at least 10 years behind them in outsourcing to India. I don't like it, I don't agree with it, but you can't fight it from within. Providing superior service is now about doing things on the cheap, not doing the best, not anticipating client's needs - it's Shareholders first, Client somewhere down the line. Financial Service, what a joke.

It's wrong to take the Governments tax cuts that were supposed to create jobs, and use them for CEO bonus while they continue to layoff in the States and outsource jobs to India.

Although I do understand everyone's anger over jobs being shipped to other countries. On some level, some of you sound like xenophobes. Your anger/blame is misdirected. Who you really should be angry with is the US companies that ship these jobs overseas. The people in India(using the as an example since the thread of discontent circled around this group)and folks beyond are just looking for work, the same way we are. It just so happens it's cheap labour, so our US corporations jump at the opportunity to get more for less.

Final thought, let's be mindful of how we speak of others. At the end of the day we're all human and deserve respect and kindness. As you struggle to understand their accents, they struggle to understand you and yours. We're not exempt.

Do not degrade someone else's existence to feel better about years. If US jobs being shipped out to other countries try and do something about. Ranting about how awful the India employees are will not bring change.

Generalizations are always wrong. There are definitely some good / competent employees in India. The problem is thinking they can just mass shift things and hire large numbers cheaply. The good people in India have lots of opportunities and tend to move (same way we used to be during Internet tech bubble). This means when bulk shifting work and just trying to mass hire you get mediocrity and even poor performance as not being selective.

Service desk the best example of this. Hit or miss. I just keep opening tickets until I get to the person who knows how to actually help.

First, it is absolutely wrong to purge jobs here in states and ship it to India. This is going on for over 2 decades now. Yes I understand the anger and I am equally disturbed with this.

Its pretty hard to reason when emotions are high. This is normal. But will try anyway...
I see comments pertaining Indian accents, work quality , poor education etc... All these are valid in many cases. Making few points here...We live in one big global village and need people to support businesses following the sun in all world markets.

Yes, English accent is difficult to understand. But I respectfully ask.. who does not have an accent ? This includes people who are born and raised within US. We just have to be patient and tolerant to each other.

Yes, work quality is perceived to be below par compared to United states. I have seen it quite extensively over the last 20 years working at various firms. In my opinion, this is attributed to demand for results in USA and work culture in other countries.

on Education, although there are more number of graduates in India in various fields than any other country, Yes, I find the quality of education to be poor, it is limited to getting a certificate and not actual learning. Very few excel. The ones that do excel become CEO and CIO's of major US companies They are well known.

The fundamental issue

  • People are hired here at extremely high pay , especially from metropolitan areas like NY / NJ / CA etc. Someone higher up should scrutinize these high paid folks and the value they bring in as opposed to cutting down work force at lower level.
  • There has to be external governing body that will oversee corporate justifications for shipping jobs overseas.

I have no intention to make this argument into a political debate.

Once again, I am very sorry for folks who lost their jobs. I sincerely hope they find employment soon.

Biggest problem is LOB leaders, they don’t care about innovation and getting work done, they care about YES Men.

Like Harry Styles says "it's a sign of the times". A lot more coming. WFH just sped offshoring up by about a decade.

I find it to be disgusting to be honest. No off sense to anyone Indian, but I’m so sick of calling and not getting help, they don’t complete the work for hours we had to send offshore, we have to babysit the work and their mistakes and unless it’s black and white they cannot do the work. Nobody cares about that though. Time spent messing with them could be used for us to do the work ourselves quicker. I hope that blows up in their face. They work longer hours than the US and for less so they’re the ideal location ? Bull sh–

Tell me about it, I graduated with a computer sci degree from a UC school 15 years ago. Try working with a couple of dozen of these guys, its a full-on Mob of poorly educated angry mumblers. I tell my wife with Agile etc.. its like being a goat on a farm in the 3rd world. I dream of being able to start a brewery and retiring from this nightmare.
