Those of us who survived this round will be expected to pick up the work of the people from our groups who were shown the door. No extra compensation will be offered, of course. And those who refuse or complain will soon find themselves without a job as well. How am I doing?

LIke the horse in Animal Farm, you will work harder. The reward for a job well done is not a bonus, it's 150% more job. Now get back to work
More layoffs...
The OP could have been written 25 years ago. Dear colleagues, you can't move forward if you constantly and fearfully look over your shoulder. If you were "spared" this time, you just got a wake up call. Hone your marketable skills. The cloud market is exploding with opps at great companies. Don't miss this wave.
RA class of 2020 here. Good luck to all affected. I’ll keep you all in my thoughts.
The decisions to RA are based on age first and your total cost of employment second. This is fifth grade math folks. IBM is dead man walking and they have no choice but to make this decision to try and survive. For those holding IBM stock, it is a value trap. Sell now.
Everyone I know has stopped caring.
Colocation? What kind of loser would even suggest such a thing at this point?
Yeah, performance means nothing anymore... 86% utilization last year, 520+K of service revenues and I got the call... not to mention, I am on still a long term contract which would have allowed me to bill full time for the whole year...
What does that really means? IBM is absolutely not serious to GROW revenue, it is all about cutting costs.
They got rid of all the client executives in "Segment 2". Technical sellers are already being asked to pick up some of the client relationship work as well as their current work. And so it begins.
Well I think was really happens (has been happening for years now), is people left know they are next, know that performance does not matter, so they continue (or get smart and start) to not do anything. Project due dates, customer satisfaction, revenue, and moral continue to fall, thus need for more layoff ... Rinse and Repeat until the end.
Yep ... not even a raise or bonus to help compensate for picking up the extra work. Guess we’re just not that important to them.
spot on
- so you know what you have to do then.
Yup. Client satisfaction will go down yet we’ll be blamed for it.
