My Slovakia contact said a bunch of employees working on non-legacy products were being outsourced to Infosys. Just a continuing trend of outsourcing the implementation work.

Nothing precludes that. Slovakia was chosen because they have competent people, excellent and nuanced English language skills, and a stable and progressive democracy. Nothing prevents AT&T from "displacing" these jobs to a third-world hellhole with questionable talent graduating from ersatz universities with fake diplomas and miserable communications skills.

I realize that Slovakia was used as an outsourcing destination for U.S. jobs, so it really wasn't a happy story to begin with. But I've found the folks in Slovakia to be extremely competent and great to work with. I feel bad for them just like I feel bad for all the U.S. workers losing their jobs or being forced out.
