A CEO from a low cost operating company will close down Clinton asap and eliminate much of EMRE.
I worked in Clinton and it is a black hole. Hundreds of millions of dollars go in, nothing comes out (apart from a new catalyst formulation every few years). Universities and 3rd party companies perform the real work for algae and carbon capture - CSR staff just direct and steward the projects and claim the credit when reporting up.
EMRE FPO and LT can't get anything done because the heritage CSR lab staff and analytical experts don't want to do any work to support the projects that came up from Paulsboro. On-site blending takes 5 times as long as it did in Paulsboro, but even simple tests have needed to be shipped out to 3rd party test labs for the last 18 months. Projects are running well behind schedule and the external spend has blown the budgets for 2019 and 2020.
Fortunately for the business, new formulations have been on the shelf for months because of the pandemic and no customers are looking for a new product right now. That means that all FPO and LT development work could stop and no-one would notice for the next 5 years or more.
Friends,
In short: Get rid of CSR
Yours truly

It doesn’t matter if eliminating an organization like EMRE can save only $1-2 B/yr.
It still is a lot of money. The company needs to be efficient and not have useless layers of management or an organization that accomplishes nothing except to collect a fat paycheck.
Just keep the operating units. No need for high-dollar consultants or useless research! There are plenty of companies that run operating units without heavily loaded corporate staff.

CSR crusader is back with his preachings again. Don’t you get tired?
Brevity, oil boiler. Brevity is good.
Delete EMRE management. Wait the worst place on planet earth is Corporate Strategic Research in Clinton, New Jersey.
Delete CSR entirely. CSR employees (so called researchers with failed academic credentials) are terribly below average, and the management is totally incompetent. So the problem is once fired they will not be able to find employment anywhere else.
Only RTD is great!
Not sure what EMRE hating gives you. Our quarterly dividend is $3.7B 😂
