Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Got my severance. Time to rock.

Got my money deposited finally and they can take my arbitration signature from earlier 2020 and this esignature for severance and shove it. Already talked to attorney and both agreements are void due to duress of employment and receivibg severance. Will be reporting and handing all I have to state DOI's and labor groups and it looks like I have an age discrimination lawsuit warranted especially considering their refusal to provide all the assessment results for all those my impacted area as requested by my attorney that would show fair equal practice of layoffs.

Piss on you and the signatures. I'm the captain now!

If nothing else our apathy must end. I am glad to hear people not taking it any more, lots of information out there. While we are at will, when termination comes it must conform to our laws. There are government agencies that represent various concerns and you keep pushing. They have violated many of these labor laws. It’s usually a question of how much of an offense is it. At the very least it teaches you how to proceed when looking for a new job. While companies are picky with who they hire, you should be too. Likewise, don’t overlook to department of labor, fair labor standards act (especially wage and hour division for unpaid hours) and the EEOC. While you might not get what you deserve you will be occupying their lawyers. That will costs them money and keep them from other cases. Load the up with whatever, they have to reply....:)

How long did it take to receive your severance? My term date was 11/28 and I still haven't received anything.

Inb4 this goes absolutely nowhere, you were an “at will” employee boyo, they can fire you or lay you off at any time. Good luck proving discrimination when they laid off thousands of people of all ages, genders, races, etc. You remind me of claimants when they threaten to “get a lawyer” and then accept our low ball settlement days later

Can you believe Tom Wilson as well as 35 others signed a letter that was written to Congress requesting they pass the Cares Act $2.8 Trillion dollars. To help millions of Americans. Hypocrisy! You just laid off 3800+ employees!
2021 = Karma

Age discrimination for sure with me and several of my friends. 34 years with Allstate, 57 years old. In the Law Dept the last 3 years, I was only person who managed the team I did - and my job was "eliminated". No way, they will rewrite the job description, move it to a "D" band and get away with it. So - keep us updated. I wasn't given the assessment because my job was eliminated. Totally agree that we had to sign the arbitration agreement under duress - it was requirement of our employment. Arbitration put into place because Allstate knew what they were about to do.

To the original poster... good luck in thinking you will beat Allstate in the litigation game. You don’t have the time or funds to be successful, even if your attorney knew what he was talking about. I’m afraid you have received some bad legal advice from an attorney who has never taken on the big blue legal machine. Move on and don’t let it consume you...you will be better off.

Good luck to you, and please keep us posted on how your legal journey evolves.

Would you mind sharing how long it took from your last day of work for the severance payment to hit your bank account?
