Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

You are not safe even if have gotten retention bonuses

I've been hearing because of the crazy attrition that some of my former colleagues are getting out-of-cycle raises and RSU grants.

It does not mean you are safe from layoff.

I was in the same position and still got laid off earlier in 2020 along with bunch others between Jan - Mar. No I am not old. It didn't really have anything to do with my direct manager who got hit in a different way. I was a great performer who ruffled the wrong feathers by speaking up against the general incompetence going on.

Before the market get's flooded once again, sharpen up your technical skills, interview, and get out.

I worked my @$$ off, got a promotion, and still got laid off. That's how this company treats high performers.

Karma may hit my sister who works for intel in quality something. During unemployment she didn’t help or lift a finger. She rolls in dough. If she gets canned I will wish her the best. But I tell you remember those laid off because how you treat them and try to help them is how it will come back on you someday

That's mostly (not always) why they give RSUs.

They can give you tons of RSU's because, when they lay you off, if they're not vested, they are forfeited. It happened to me.

It really s—s to get a big bonus only to have it taken away from you.

It depends. On a number of factors. But it still is not always the same. Some of it is luck. But ultimately you don’t know. The thing that’s most important to know is that it’s relative. Everything is relative. And it doesn’t matter where you are or who you are.
