On the Anniversary of Enron Declaring Bankruptcy

Back in 2001, I clearly remember defending my Corporation because I trusted the integrity of our leadership, and the checks and balances of our controls and work processes. Now, 19 years later, I’m heartbroken for the many friends and colleagues who were deemed NSI, or redundant, while many of the senior managers who are directly responsible for our current predicament collect thousands of shares of stock bonuses. Somewhere (very hot, probably), Ken Lay is smirking and giving us the finger.

If you have not personally experienced the change in corporate culture over the past 20 years, then you are truly lucky, or you drank the Kool-aid. We no longer stress leadership, we reward compliance and obedience. Only the sycophants get ahead in this Game of Thrones. Is it any wonder that the “more of the same approach” is giving us more of the same downward spiral? We won’t dig ourselves out of this mess using the same tactics that got us here in the first place. The lesson from Enron is don’t double down and cover up. See the comparison yet?

Make it from 1981 to 2020 and you'll see that the only difference the 3 other low points is that we have this type of outlet (internet media) to speak to the masses. Oh, in 1985-86 there were many more p*%d off folks than there are now. They just didn't have a website like this to air it on. It was mouth to ear back then. Bumper Stickers too. Layoffs are tough, but part of a cyclical industry. Even Big Tech saw it around 2000 and will see it again when something bigger and better comes along.
Friend was with Enron. Was offered to go out with low profit O&G division early on. He chose to stay with Enron. Lost everything while former colleagues who went to EOG made a good retirement. Nothing like today's situation with EM. No house of cards in trading California Electric here.
OP, quit trying to liken us to Enron.

The award of RAUs is disgusting. I would like to know the scenario under which they wouldn’t be awarded. What about the case for change. Need to layoff, PIP, stop matching, go back on promises uplifts, etc
