Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Anyone else seeing the LinkedIn posts?

I've seen probably 5 posts already where Honeywell offered positions to new graduates, then delayed their start dates over and over. Now, I'm seeing the offers being withdrawn. How messed up is that to keep those kids in limbo for months, then lay them off before they even start? That's disgraceful...

UOP was awesome company work for but this ended in 2007 or so as many of us know how come. So sad what corps do and CEOs do to a good companies as usual Power and Greed.

Reddit is a good place to post to help others understand what the US labor market is like today.
Please post your factual experiences everywhere you can. Even if we can’t unionize, we can speak the truth and make sure bad behaving companies understand that those glass ceilings work against them. We see what is happening and can write and publish truth visible to everyone... forever. Reputation is the only currency that really matters.

Have seen them. Doesn't surprise me.
On the other hand, these grads should have checked reality within Honeyhell and UOP before putting their hopes on it. Instead they believed the HR and PR cr*p.
Insiders know this company only offers short term jobs, not a carreer.

Happened to me too at a different company a few years ago and was let go on the 3rd week. It was not Honeywell but another large public firm. I was told it was not for performance but a change in corporate strategy. I emailed around for additional reasons but everyone ignored my emails. I just left quietly and worked at a different firm. So really - companies will do that if it suits them. Most likely they found someone else willing to work for cheaper - and then they will let you go with some BS excuse and hire the cheaper person.

Happened to me a few years ago, though not a recent grad. Was told I was getting the job in January but was not given a start date until April.

I worked in engineering where they hired a new grad contractor on Monday and his last day was that Friday. This is honeywell.

The month the new grads start they will see Honeywell culture of layoffs, firings, benefit piggy banks.... hard lesson for those guys, but it’s a lesson that they would have had to learn anyway.

Pretty disgracefully but this isn't a Honeywell problem. This is a corporate America problem. Lots of companies out there do this. Bad labor laws.
