Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

Clown Castle

Crown used to be a great place to work. Before Jay Brown took over I could not imagine working for a better place. That being said, Jay Brown and the current executive management team completely ruined this company. Crown Castle was publically called out by Elliot... the response was hundreds of employees lost their jobs while the executive management team keeps theirs? It was the terrible decisions by these people that left Crown vulnerable yet they go unscathed? They should have started their layoffs at this level..

Funny you mention Lightpath which is another pump and dump company. Who do you think the former Lightower execs who went to Lightpath will scam next?

As long as the Kingpin from Lightower who resides in N.NJ is there, CC sales reps will continue to come and go quickly except the few that are politically connected. Can anyone blame Turtz who was Jay's scapegoat for plundering what's left of the good reps in NY/NJ?

Good riddance, light tower is the sh– show that f—ed the company in the first place. Things were fine.

Clown Castle is right. It feels like we are the laughing stock of the tower industry. Our competitors consistently outperform us while the EMT struggle to find a way to even make our business run just a little bit smooth. How many times are we going to realign and make changes before some realizes that the problem is with upper "management"? This is not just my opinion, every single employee has the same thought. When the entire workforce has zero confidence in Jay and the EMT its time for them to step down or be removed.

Top talent continues to run for the doors, I have seen some skilled, genuine human beings take off. Company has made clear they wish to automate as much as possible and remove the human factor from the vast majority of sales and engineering operations.

The last comment is so accurate and sums up the internal crown experience fairly well. Clearly, the company is not improving the customer experience either. Its surprising that EMT is so out of touch to realize that.

The realignment experienced has been disastrous, period. Trying to get work done while spending precious time just locating the “new” assigned person is a management nightmare. I work at a customer level, and feel bad for the service we cannot support anymore. What used to be a district pulling all the same direction, is now fragmented silos, clicking off milestones so the individuals aren’t scrutinized and called out. The environment is toxic and snarky, I’ve never seem morale so low here. So sad I used to love this place, now counting days.

The CEO's before Jay were much better. I remember there being whispers of portfolios for sale with tower that they passed up. They said that these portfolios were overpriced and it was in Crown's best interest to pass on these particular buys. At the time is seemed like Crown might have missed good opportunities but now it is clear there was good reason to pass. It doesn't seem like Jay passed on anything. He was like a kid in a candy store buying up poorly managed and problematic fiber companies. The end result is Jay makes millions while hard working employees get cut. I'm sure his time at Crown is at the end, although sadly it had to come to this for people to see his mistakes.

I would think that there is already a plan to get rid of Jay and the EMT. Cutting employees while Jay is CEO is a way for him to take the heat. After that is done you can bring in a new CEO that will look like the savior.

Perhaps Jay should just quit and become an Instagram Influencer since he loves doing those videos from his car. Maybe he can influence others on how to destroy a company. It would be great, he could even bring on the EMT as special guests.

He took a company that people were dying to work for with an unprecedented culture and a rock solid extremely profitable business model and destroyed every single aspect of it.

But hey, he got rich so I guess he did what he wanted to do. Such a POS, he could have been plenty rich without destroying the lives of his employees.

The entire blame should not fall on Jay's shoulders, but there is a clear lack of accountability and nobody, with the exception of Jim Young is being shown the door. Maybe all of the new board members will have the power to make change and outline a clear direction going forward. Because it isn't coming from EMT. Or maybe Elliot will continue leading the company.

Exactly! How a company gets called out by investors and the CEO keeps their job is beyond me. Jay Brown is trash... He was handed a rock solid company and then destroyed it.

Brown made one mistake after another and many employees and contractors paid the price. CC was easily one of the best companies to work for in Telecom just a few years ago. Brown kept low performing mgt in place instead of showing them the door and bringing in top talent, expanded the fiber group when Eliot Mgt told the world that the Fiber Group was mismanaged and wasn't doing squat. Gave away millions of Crown Castle's money to Charity for optics. The guy is the biggest phony at Crown Castle and was a mistake. Brown, Levandos, Nichol and 1/2 of the Fiber Sales Mgt Group have to go or it will continue to be business as usual and we will lose what's left of the talented Crown employees that made this company great.

The Crown Castle culture has vanished with the expansion of the fiber business and the acquisitions of fiber companies. It is quite sad, it seems like there is a target on your back if you are a legacy Crown employee. There is nobody to blame except for Jay Brown. Jay would sell his soul to the devil if he thought it would help the company stock price. The EMT talks about the B3 values but it is nothing but lip service. Jay has really overstayed his welcome and hopefully a change happens sooner than later.

Agreed, but they simply can't fire themselves for poor decision making. It's easier to just let go a few hundred workers and whipe their own slate clean!
