Jan 1 changes

Been with IBM for a long time we all know there will be a big reorg announcement in Jan. What’s your guess? is RA done in the US?

Two colleagues informed today that their contract will not be renewed. Last day Dec 31, 2020. Mine is Feb 2021. At least the RA folks get 30 days notice and severance. 2 weeks notice and nothing. They both have critical positions in our BU, no hc to fill their roles. SMH

@5kzj, you shouldn't generalise those sellers who were affected by this round of RA. I've seen very skilled and experienced folks in their own rights as well as some shocking CEs. Sure, your comments would apply to some of them, but many are really in wrong positions at the bad timing.

RA is coming for sure. honestly some of the RA employees I worked with, they are just terrible performers. So maybe RA is to get rid of those bottom performers. One of the RA employees I worked with almost a decade ago didn’t understand what she was talking about and she was in sales. Her emails were full of typos to clients and she only relied on tech sales. Folks like her should not be in sales. She got RAed. So I don’t feel bad for some of the RA employees. You don’t end up on RA list because you are good. You end up on RA because you are a bottom performer. Mostly. Heard global market CEs will be gone, some brand sellers, anyone else? I am in GTS so I will be in newco

I hear RAs happening next week, before announcements and reorgs happening in beginning of Jan.

I received an unemployment filing confirmation from the state today. Does IBM notify states? IBM hasn't told me anything yet and I haven't filed. Weird.

Only if they plan to RA What if they plan to sell off or spinoff No RA needed in that the acquiring company would be responsible for the RA

I cannot argue with your logic given IBM’s previous behavior, BUT consider one other data point. Come Jan 1 AK owns the whole show No Ginni to blame AK has made it quite plain he wants this restructuring behind him ASAP His European announcements concerning GTS/GBS have shown he wants major restructuring NOW. I would be quite surprised if it takes till March to get IBM streamlined. The services head count in NA has been trimmed for years, and there really isn’t a lot of heads to go after (perform was offshore years ago) Is there room for services management to take it on the chin? Sure but I expect that to happen when IBM either spins off Newco, or sells Newco to a third party who understands “services staffing” Other parts of IBM that are redundant should expect a mid Jan reorg’ s with all of the redundancy out the door by end of March. Wallstreet is demanding IBM move much much faster, and AK not only knows this, but also understands he has to execute it.

RAs are never "done" (complete) in the US.

I would guess End of March and it being a big one.

Performance reviews still going on in Jan.
Takes time to get up line mgrs lists in and approved. Takes time for HR to prep too.

Assuming 01-21-21 is earnings announcement, if what I see is the correct pattern, RA Thursdays would be 4 weeks later. Or sometime in Feb.
