Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Surprised

I am surprised how many people I know took the buyout this year. two LL6' and six GSR8's. All of them hired in the wave in the early 90's. I'll bet the average age of the group dropped 5 years.

As for additional layoffs, firings, downsizing, restructuring...., use what ever term you like, of course they will continue. As Ford (all car companies) increases production of PHEV, HEV and BEV vehicles, complexity decreases, technology becomes relatively common and the need for engineers, support and production workers will decrease. Looking forward, when AV comes on line the employment levels in the auto companies will decrease even more. If I was in my 30's and 40's I wouldn't anticipate retiring from an automaker and try to plan accordingly.

Actually I’m surprised that you literally just copied and pasted an previous comment from a 15 day old prior thread (.ie see thread “Ford Layoffs 2021”) and are trying to pretend that this an original thought......LOL!

You obviously must be from the HR department trying to justify the need for your future employment

Why would you be surprised? You have a pension and 9mon salary given to you to leave. Not too many people get that opportunity, so you would be a fool if you did not take it. The smart ones that lived within their means took it. This dummies that have mcmansions and a divorce or two under their belt cannot. Also, what ray of hope would inspire you to stay? The next five years are going to be rough, why not jump off the crazy train while you can?

Not only that,

It is the greedy capitalism running big three to the ground, soon enough they cannot sustain the current economy scope and by that time Michigan will be the wild west with our sons and daughters being prostitutes paying the rent for their parents and there won't be the USA as we know.

I will have bailed out in Canada by that time, or the UK, but I will salute and cheer on the last day when Ford exists ( and I will equally celebrate when this day comes for GM, or its takeover by the Chinese government ) and I might live long enough to see it.

Too bad such words came from a person who likes cars and people generally. Detroit big three showed I was wrong, as I went through them all.
