Is it possible to be rehired after being laid off? I recently applied for a job with AT&T and noticed one of the questions asked if you had received a severance package from AT&T. Sounds like an automatic disqualification but wanted to see if anyone has any experience with it.

It’s 6 months before you can be re-hired. But if you were laid off, I mean, come on. Odds are slim.
yes, my manager says as long as you are flag for re-hire, but it is really hard to go back in, especially if you are not qualified enough for other positions because of your education, experience, skills etc... I did not get any severance offer after I was let go by phone three weeks before Christmas. 20 plus years-in, got injured on the job and could not perform the work anymore and now begging for unemployment checks at the moment. Just stay positive and be strong. God Bless!
How many jobs/times would you need to be surplused to realize AT&T doesn't want you? After getting surplused once, shouldn't that tell you to find a better company if you have marketable skills?

why in the world would anyone want to be work at the nwo cesspool att especially after being laid off. let it go there are tons better companies to work for out there and are hiring.
If you’re rehired under ARS you don’t repay any ECO money but If you happen to be laid again that amount will be deducted from any future severance Unsure about Mgmt.
I came back thru the Leg-T craft rehire system (ARS). Got my 10 years seniority back after 6 months. Did not have the repay the ECO pay (16 weeks).
For management, be gone 6 months, then you could get rehired. I believe you'd have to wait 5 years after being rehired to get service bridging.
It’s simple. Keep severance, but lose seniority. This happened to a tech years ago. I don’t think it’s changed.
Why go back ...you left for a reason
Take a look at page 3 of the General Release & Waiver Form you would have had to signed off on. It breaks down what you may have to repay if you are rehired within certain time periods
As mentioned above, there are formulae for repayment of severance depending on how long you've been gone.
What really matters is how your Rehire Indicator was checked on your exit package. Severance shouldn't change your ability to be rehired, but the "Do not rehire" box will.
If you were simply laid off due to lack of work or headcount reductions in an area and left on decent terms, you should be fine. Usually the "Don't" box only gets checked if let go for cause, you really stunk at the job and happened to appear in the reduction list, or if you're one of the rare folks who really dug into your boss while you were leaving.
In many years, I've only checked the "Don't" box twice, but both times were examples of people who the rest of the team was glad to see go.
I think you’re required to pay some back if rehired within one year. Not sure.
