Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Are we certain there'll be no layoffs before next year?

I'm worried we might be surprised in the next few weeks. It wouldn't be the first time Intel pulled something like that.

Deadwood might occasionally get the boot but a lot of them get promoted up the management chain or into technical “leadership” where few actual deliverables are required!

“DEAD WOOD will be offered voluntary separation packages.“

Funny. If that was the case, our exec team and their cronies will be offered packages. Have you seen the recent videos? It is hard to watch.

The only packages they will be handing out are involuntary ones. 1 week pay for each year worked. You might be lucky to even get that. See how they are cutting the pension payouts for elderly Intel workers? Intel is daring the non-H1B workers to sue them again. BS couldn't give two $hits about this. He already milked Intel out more more than $100M dollars. So, probably even more than Spectre Meltdown insider trader BK with even less tenure as CEO.

@5fsb+18kVormH LOL you think only "deadwood" gets the boot? How much do you actually know? Probably nothing because even people who just got promoted aren't safe either and they get shown the door too- There's no such thing as "time in grade" @$$-saving anymore

DEAD WOOD will be offered voluntary separation packages. Those who insist on clinging to Intel as it sinks will be swiftly shown the door no later than Q1'21. Start polishing up resumes, develop marketable skills and pray that the stench on the resuming having been at Intel for 2+ decades with little advancement and not much to show for it will not deter hiring managers at other companies. They may be willing to give you a chance for 20% less pay.

To survive the next round of layoff it is best to continue backstabbing each other. Once you are done with your own group backstab other groups. This is the survival 101 at Intel. You know this already.

IoTG can’t be sold off. They have no products. They are simply remarketing Atom/Core into non Traditional markets.

IoTG should be significantly downsized by 50% which would be over 2000 heads cut.

Yes, there will be layoffs...but they will not called as "layoffs" so as to not attract state. local and national attention. Whole division will be sold off silently...look at the 2020 history NAND, Home Gateway, and others. The next one in 2021 is IoTg and others before their value diminishes. It is easier to sell whole BU than go through ACT like expensive layoffs.

Most high tech recruiters have a auto reject on ex-Intel employees. Be ready for some tough times.

Bob lacks the balls to announce mass layoffs ASAP. The ball-less bean counter would rather hide it from the media by trickling the layoffs out like his weak pee stream due to an enlarged prostate.

$99M problems but a ball-less b*tch ain't one

Here’s a disheartening aspect to all this — Intel executives can see the negative effects (financial, operational, etc.) before they land so they lay people off to cushion the blow to the stock price. However, they never seem to be smart enough to implement preventative measures so the negative effects don’t materialize in the first place.

So yes — and because of that inability to really fix things — expect more layoffs. It’s possible that a mega-one like ACT and SET could happen, but more likely it’ll be a continuous stream of targeted micro-cuts.

If you put a frog into a plan of cold water and then put the pan on a heating stove burner, the frog will most likely sit there thinking the water will never boil.

I think it's certain that there won't be any layoffs. Layoffs, especially at Intel is not that common. In fact I don't think there was ever any layoff in Intel's history.

So, I think you can stop worrying about that.

Layoffs is burnt into Intel culture.. Smart ones move to other companies however most just keep waiting and milking the system. Intel gives you indication what's about to happen but human nature is just to sit and wait like a lame duck. Unemployment line is growing so is the food line. If you have family relying on your income and you just kicking back waiting then shame on you ;)
