Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I was a communicator

I just learned of this website and saw a lot of fake news being posted. I would like to answer questions to the best of my ability without giving too much away and remaining anonymous

  1. I was a communicator for EMIT. My job title is Skills and Development Manager (SDM)
  1. I kind of knew who was selected for involuntary layoffs the week of Thanksgiving, But it was confirmed the week after.
  1. I was not a decision maker on who gets selected but I did have some input and influence.
  1. Your SDA was a factor even though we said it wasn't. Your current skills and future goals vs your salary is something that was considered.
  1. Nothing in writing whether there will be a major layoff in March or at all next year.
  1. Did we lose good people? yes.
  1. Do we wish times were different and O&G was still booming? yes, and maybe this could have been avoided.

How were the targets by department decided? Was there common threshold Or did the VPs/managers divided the quota among them?
