The containment loss in Brazil was big enough to make national news for weeks. It was a firestorm of criticism. The current California spills are also national news.
Wear a mask, Wash your hands, Watch your distance. It important to stay vigilant and keep your guard up until the vaccine comes out. Until then...X-mas is Canceled as I don't want any of you F-ers to ruin my 2020 HSE record before our sh–ty CIP comes out! I myself will be celebrating Christmas with my family in a socially distance manner, by attending in person.

Bash wellsafe .. I don't see any other "examiners" coming up with any thing new. Just documenting your drilling program doesn't cut the mustard. Also none of the containment loss was big enough to make national headline because of well safe.
I haven’t read any email or watched any video/livestream out of corporate HES in about 8 months. I suggest you all do the same. The only HES email that will really matter is knowing when you’re going back to the office, and that will be from your BU, not corporate.

DP was VP of D&C for 12 years, and did nothing to help people in the BU's. WellSafe does not prevent a Macondo, it just adds a bureaucratic check the box exercises that does nothing but wastes Wells's times and dedicates process driven BU OE engineers to supporting Wellsafe c-ap then actual engineering or operations work. Shell and Exxon saw our WellSafe and said WTF is this sh!t, and guess what they aren't blowing up their wells and neither are any other operators in the industry. As it turns out when you hire experienced field people, encourage critical thinking, and ensure drilling programs are written well, sh– doesn't hit the fan. Despite CVX Wells LT cheerleading for WellSafe, CVX has had a blowout, lost containment numerous times, and even had a rig break down in AMBU, NMA, CBU, LABU, etc. That entire program can be burned to the ground just like the other money pit claiming to be preventing the next Macondo (aka DSC).
DP changed the cost of deepwater wells to be three times higher than competitors. And people wonder why we have never made money in GOM...

DP has changed the culture in D&C. Have done changes that allows us to not to have Macondo in our operation. Folks who are trolling here seems like from "other support functions" or otherwise know as the "overhead".
A lot of unwarranted salt here in my opinion. To those saying he does nothing — wasn’t he VP of D&C before? And what do you expect out of the person heading up HES?
The guy is looking out for the well-being of the workforce and somehow this thread finds a way to sh– on it.
In the end you decide for yourself what to do. But at least CVX is showing more leadership and concern for its employees in this Covid crisis then certain key members of our gov over the last 10 months.

You may consider him quite stupid and few would argue that he is easy on the eyes, but the man earns a fortune doing essentially nothing at all.
And yet he attends all important things just because he follows the 3 W, as if the risk goes away, but oh gee if anyone else does what he does they are doomed!
That's only because we are so stupid we need the companies that hire us to tell us how to think, how to function, and basically how to exist. Without them, how else would I know I a supposed to wash my hands?
