Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Go us!

This is about the only kind of list we can make these days. We used to be the best of, now we keep popping up on more and more worst of rankings. This one is 100 percent on point, I think.

Yeah, the youngsters here in the UK labs can pick up some incredible skills and experience.

Nah, don't feel bad about young people joining but bad about young people STAYING at ibm for more than a few yrs. Smart people move on after they gain few years of experience in the industry.
Ibm pay is competitive at university level (not to fang perhaps but others) but they can't keep up hence ibm loses so many experienced people at all levels and have to continuously train clg grads.

Having been in Software Development for 30 yrs, I truly feel bad for young people I see still joining IBM (Not that many these days). I try to take the high road online, but personally I tell Everyone I talk to from CEO's to New grads to Stay Away from IBM.

This is very sad to read, but over my 20 years in the company and finally being laid off recently, I am not surprised. For many years there has been a clear difference between the workers bands 1-10 and the Band D’s and above. I recall only a few years ago the workers were given no to little bonus for the work they had done. The Band Ds and above still managed to receive a decent bonus. The failure of IBM is purely down to those in the leadership roles who were focused on their bonuses and not where IBM was going to go. I hope every single one of them sleeps soundly at night and thinks about the people who have had their careers destroyed by this company. I will never buy anything associated with IBM. Their focus on their best assets, their employees has been lost !

IBM is toast. If you are still hoping for a turn around your delusional. Get out now and find a decent company to work for. IBM leadership is incompetent. This is only going to end badly.

"Almost seems like a case of deliberate sabotage."

Careful there buddy, you almost said they're competent in their jobs.

From the article:
"Krishna has been given the job to wipe IBM’s screen clear of Rometty’s mistakes and then to turn things around. It won’t happen."

Imagine where IBM could be now with a really good visionary, saavy CEO for the past 10 years. It's a real shame Rometty was brought in and allowed to run IBM off the cliff. Almost seems like a case of deliberate sabotage.
