This is how bad the reputation is outside of the industry. If this is how they treat us as customers, can't imagine how hard it is for the talented employees with long O&G career history on their resumes to find a job elsewhere.

difficult for me
It has been very difficult for me. I was laid off 6 months ago. I applied for over 360 jobs... I only heard back from a handful. Each one would tell me O&G is what you know, and you should stick with what you know. It was immensely frustrating! I finally landed a job.... once again in O&G. I can only hope that the worst of the downturn is behind us now.
You clowns making jokes out of this and going with the same lame jokes for a serious question is stupid. Show a tiny bit of class now and then.
Depending on your specialty you will find it easy or very hard. If you have a science, accounting or finance degree and are willing to take a pay cut you'll be fine. If you are in sales or administration you're going to struggle. I don't believe there are a lot of companies like North Face in the article actively blocking O&G workers, but there is a stigma with O&G workers that during downturns you'll take the job and then when the money and oil comes back you leave. That's becoming less and less a stigma though.
NOV doesn’t carry much credibility with any other company out there. Your resume is worthless.
NOV is great to work with, I work at a mall on the weekends for extra money. When NOV demoted me, they didn’t reduce my pay which is nice. I haven’t sold anything years and I work in sales for Rig Solutions.
For the RT sales guys? Very hard. Any other industry they will be found out to be glorified Cheesy Car Salesmen who couldn’t sell a life jacket on the Titanic
Most jobs require higher education. Anyone can find a job. The question is "How easy is it for a O&G employee to find a GOOD job?" Answer: Very difficult
I found it very easy
The CEO ordered Christmas gifts for his employees, even during the roughest times for O&G!!!! That's very kind of him. NOV only takes things from employees.
