Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The hits just keep coming!

Updates to your retirement benefits: Retirement eligible individuals whose last day on payroll is on or after January 1, 2022 will not qualify for a company subsidy (meaning AT&T will not pay for a portion of your monthly premium) for medical and dental benefits in retirement. However, eligible retirees and dependents will continue to have the ability to enroll in the AT&T group medical and dental programs at the full cost of coverage. If your last day on payroll is before January 1, 2022, this change does not apply.

Mass exodus of senior managers in 2021!

So we are losing a lot after being loyal to this company for a long time! I am not however hearing anything about upper level management salaries decreasing?!?!?!?

I used to try to be a loyal employee. No more. Going to take all I can get, do as little as I can, and trash talk AT&T right along with all my friends and family. Used to try and defend T. Why bother?

I think these latest moves have just turned some of T’s remaining employees that were trying to fight the good fight at work and do right by our employee totally against T.

I know I will now look for every little opportunity to get them back however small. Zero through your employee giving campaign. I’m never filling out another one of your culture surveys unless I think it would be more hurtful to give across the board low scores. No money to PAC, ever. You talk about micro aggressions, you just wait.

Thinly veiled ageism masquerading as layoffs without ever having to say layoff

@aqf absolutely nails it.

"Retirement offers me absolutely nothing now,.."

Which is exactly the intent. Subsidized medical was such a huge reason for many to try and stick it out to MR 75. And it's gone, poof. All of the other retiree benefits are worthless, you 'll do better with any of the competitors as a regular customer.

Yes but they made the change to “better align some of your benefits”. Doesn’t that make you feel better.

Kidding. They are absolute b@st@rds!

I'm not retirement eligible, not even that old really, but I got the email. I wouldn't have qualified for MR75 until late 2022, but it doesn't matter anymore. Retirement offers me absolutely nothing now, no benefits at all, except 30% off my wireless service. What a waste of a career.

AT&T: Run by psychopaths on behalf of thieves

Sounds like they are trying for people on edge of retirement in the next couple of years to go ahead and take it to maintain medical coverage subsidies and avoid severance packages etc. to random takers.
Does that not sound right?

Different emails went out to different employees. For instance mine said that if you do not reach MR 75 by 1/1/2022 you lose the health insurance subsidy. And by the way reducing your pension on earnings starting 1/1/2022. Considering I’m MR 75 3/1/2022 this really s—s. The messaging is clear that if you have 20 yrs or more they don’t want you.

This wouldn't have gone out to everyone, only to retirement eligible employees that were eligible for pre Medicare healthcare subsidy (like me).

It informed you that now, you are no longer eligible for pre Medicare healthcare subsidy (unless you retire in 2021).

Absolutely despicable.

Run your numbers. I’m retiring at the end of 2021 or sooner. Dusting off my resume now.

For anyone that worked for L-T back in'96, you may recall that the T pension plan was reduced at that time so you had to work 10 years more to get the same retirement benefits so that the funding for retiree healthcare came out of the pension fund instead of T operating expenses.

There was a class action lawsuit on this which of course T won that took 10 years to adjudicate.

So Stinky and Ratty and the BoD will still get thiers.

I am guessing that the T pension plan was raped so badly by Ratty it is unfunded now?

This is American justice I suppose.
