Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

What is special about CL30?

Can anyone provide information as to what makes CL30 special? I know that it is “executive”, but what compensation benefits go with it?

Many useless tier 2 S&OP managers in chemicals.. hungry to stab each other in the back.. CL 30 enjoys the show.. feeling like the almighty one in the function.

@1nsa+18qKiqzv He is not wrong. Ghost is literally everywhere in EM.. in the form of tier 2 peers waiting to take over his seat! Creating a conflict is a good way to protect himself. I do that often too.. and hey! I’m doing great! They told me I was “marked”, always giggled when they seem to admire me. I’m only doing it for the money and restricted stock options!

Entirely different experience here.

CL29s with exec ambitions are the worst to work for.

Newly minted CL30s often had this calm and peace about them.

To OP, remuneration is the big difference. Stock options to be exact. And of course progression and senior positions available to you.

In my first role I reported to a new CL30. Guy was paranoid, literally saw ghosts everywhere, worried that some problem would occur on his watch. As a result, he focused on fires that weren’t necessarily burning, he created a great deal of unnecessary, counterproductive stress. Never made time to build a team. Worst instance of non-leadership I’ve seen in years. A selfish jerk.

Here is the difference: When you are CL30 the knowledge flows directly from your chair you sit on to your head. You instantly become know it all in all kind of things. You bum also becomes very supple due to all the knowledge transfer and for that reason all people seems to get glued to your butt.

mo money, but they rank CL 30/31..as one rank group...If you drop to bottom of executive ranking you can be PIPd or laid off. Many executives were laid off2 weeks ago. Quickest way to lose you job is to be promoted then get ranked poorly in the higher rank group. Many CL 30 and 31 were laid off, and were better than the CL29s that stayed. They were absolutely beet performers, but in their rank group relatively poorer. Tough competition. XOM does not DEMOTE and LOWER PAY. I suspect many people recently promoted to CL 28/29, dropped alot in rank group and lost their jobs.

CL30 is about 300-350k or so, plus stock bonuses and you get paid monthly vs bi weekly
