Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Very Disappointed in the PTO Changes

As a 20+ year employee, the loss of essentially a week of PTO is disheartening. I know it's a 2 day net loss, but any loss for employees that have persevered and been loyal is just inappropriate. Instead of being able to take a week at my preference to spend with my family, I now will be forced to take days that I wouldn't normally take and I'm losing two days overall. If the company is trying to do the right thing and be more inclusive of holidays like MLK, that is great, but don't do it at our expense. If you truly cared you'd give the day period and not take from us. I think we all need to use that wonderful sick time policy they described in the video and get our days back.......

If I currently have 23 days of PTO and I hit 10 years in July. When will those extra 5 days of PTO be available for me to use?

I feel a 3 or 4 consecutive day migraine coming on...probably in a holiday week. Eye for and eye as they say. Not giving us anything else is shi!!y but taking what we’ve already got... well that means war.

"Videos are produced by b-movie actors, middle aged, lacked method acting, and severally over paid to deliver lines that no one believes in. "

These were actual HR employees, not actors.

These were actual employees. If you are, and/or had seen the videos, you'd know that.

Be sure to take all your PTO in 2020, don’t answer email or work calls and don’t feel guilty. I assure you your Exec leadership is not losing any sleep over cutting your PTO or retirement benefits.

It's worth saying that my last sick day was 200x. I normally push through and work through colds, flus, etc...

Many others do, too. It's not uncommon for the records to show little, even zero, management sick time in a year.

Not anymore.

Our dept. finally got the email with the three video links today...

Merry Christmas!

The woman in the second video looks like she doesn't even believe what she's reading.

To me it seems like they aren't able to recruit top talent anymore. Word gets out on the street. Hey, thats what contractors are for. they will fill the gaps, cheaper, with better quality, higher standards, no cutting corners, and of course no hidden costs of re working the shoddy work product that was paid for, and they also sell bridges and Powerpoint presentations that are carefully curated to leave out the real life black swans, hidden costs and marginalization that goes with said decisions . All those students you think you are going to hire out of university have parents, friends and family that know the reputation of the revolving door policy. Theres no incentive for long term employment/benefits, thus no skin in the game thus, the next offer that comes across the table for more money, these 1-5 year employees bolt knowing theres no commitment on the companies side of things. Great job one and all. Next, your competition hires the disenfranchised and replicates the successful departments and work flows that you decimated to save money for buying Tee Vee. A virtuous circle has been created.

Where are you all seeing this? I have not heard the first thing about PTO changes or the pay scale changes other than this website.

Don't look now, but they just took away pre Medicare healthcare coverage that many retirement eligible employees had earned.

No longer eligible for subsidy unless you retire in 2021.

Email went out this morning.

Wonder what else they can come up with for Xmas gifts?

Just the company's latest way to show long-time employees that they are truly appreciated.

Yep agreed get them back any way you need to. The needed to grandfather this for those who worked an extra 10 years to get it not take it away and hand to underlings as some form of enticement for them.
